Pre-prepared codes in the forum?
Technical Details
Forum version : #phpBB2
Position : Founder
Concerned browser(s) : Mozilla Firefox
Who the problem concerns : Yourself
Forum link : http://www.hogwarts-rpg.com
Description of problem
Okay I don't know how to describe for topic but... Well, we have some codes that integrated by our founder admin (I have access to his account) and somehow/somewhere he added some span codes to make forum visually better. For example, we use "<span class="description_contenu">" for category descriptions. The problem and question is; I have no idea where to find that description_contenu since I need to make changes in it. I checked the Models page in admin panel (index body etc.) but I couldn't find it anywhere.So tldr; Where can I find the pre-prepared codes like "<span class="description_contenu">" ?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Pre-prepared codes in the forum?
Hello,
As it is for categories descriptions, if you need to change the content you must go there
-> ACP > General > Forum > Categories and forums >
on category or forum to change > Description
If you want to change the appearance , it's there
-> ACP > Display > Pictures and Colors > Colors > CSS Stylesheet
And look for chapters looking like that

Re: Pre-prepared codes in the forum?
Why do you not just ask the founder?

Re: Pre-prepared codes in the forum?
The founder should not have gave you his / her password to you or anyone else they should have gave you just an admin account.

Re: Pre-prepared codes in the forum?
First of all; thanks Fibo for the info, we got it!
Secondly, about the founder account: It's a Roleplay forum which is founded by 4 people basically. So we have a 'common' founder account and if we need anything to do with founder stuff that admins can't do (admin accounts can't see some stuff as you know), we just log in to it. But since we have some kind of division of labour, one of us had dealt with the coding stuff across the forum and since he's happily married and having a children at the moment, he's quite busy and won't be looking into the forum anymore. That's why I basically took over the coding stuff (have been doing this for a bit now tho) and that's why I needed to know where to find pre-prepared codes so that I can change them when needed.
So yeah; I'm one of the founders but just not the one who did all the coding.
Edit: Since you guys were asking like it's a bad thing for me to have founder account, I'll keep this topic on a while. I want to know if there's anything wrong with having multiple founders for one forum. Then I'll mark as solved. ^_^

Re: Pre-prepared codes in the forum?
You should never share the founder's account information. Only one [person should have access to it. It is for security and safety reasons.

Re: Pre-prepared codes in the forum?
I am totally interjecting, but this is actually a very common practice in parts of the roleplay community. It is definitely a risky endeavor, especially when one ends up stepping down, but its function is mainly so everything is centralized. I think this would be less of an issue if accounts other than the root account are able to edit the templates as other hosts don't have it restricted to just the root account. I will admit it does get fairly annoying to have to constantly switch accounts just so I can update something in the templates.SLGray wrote:You should never share the founder's account information. Re: Pre-prepared codes in the forum?
Hello,
Well, this is a risky move to be done to start with. Having 4 people joining the same account can mess up a lot of things. But since you guys have made this decision, then it doesn't really matter.
Truth being told, the way things should be, is that one person should have soul access to the founder account and if they have no time to login anymore, give those information over to someone else, where they would be normal users and the founder to be changed like that.
But other than that, it is still up to you to do whatever you want with your forums so, we are only stating the fact that this is risky since this can easily cause unnecessary drama in the future.

Re: Pre-prepared codes in the forum?
Oh right, I know that's a risky move ofcourse but as I said; we'e 4 people that created this so it would be only fair for all of us to be able to use founder account since we need stuff to do. As Amber mentioned, it's common practice in roleplay forums because we gotta take care of lots of stuff as the founders and admins.
Well then, since we're not doing something against the rules;
Thanks for all the answers and help people!
