Verification Emails Very Slow

Description of problem

Hello - I'm wondering if there is a current known issue or way to fix the problem of account verification emails being very slow. My verification email took around 2 hours to send, and I'm getting reports from other users that they aren't receiving theirs quickly either.

It's a new forum (created today), if that helps. Thanks.

hello and welcome

it might be due to high traffic at the moment in the mail server ... another explanation might be that some email providers take longer to receive our email from our servers
from what we know is that the best ones to make an account with are live....hotmail...gmail

Curiously though, signing up for this forum gave me my email immediately. I'm now getting reports of verification on my forum taking over 12 hours. Is this normal?

I will try and tell you what we have on our systems.
New account Email's, News letters, and new forums Emails all come from the same servers and when a new account or news letters all get placed in a long list first come first out. some times it can stake 24 to 48 hours to get down the list but most of the time it will be right away.

Sadly we have no control over your email supplier's list so they could be running slow as well.
