Solved Who is the creator of the code?

Post by saya2 March 29th 2022, 9:29 pm

How do I know the real code generator name?
What is the difference between tutorial and code?

If you change a specific code and make it work a new feature
Will I become the author of the tutorial?

Will the tutorial be mine

Hi @saya2
saya2 wrote:How do I know the real code generator name?

A, It depends on what code you are talking about and where you see this code.

saya2 wrote:What is the difference between tutorial and code?
A, A code is what makes it work on a forum or site, A tutorial is how you tell some on how to set the code up and use it and how it works.

saya2 wrote:If you change a specific code and make it work a new feature
A, If the code is already used and posted in public then this code is the makers code and you have no right to repost it in your name even if you make a change to it.

saya2 wrote:Will I become the author of the tutorial? Will the tutorial be mine

A, No if you took the code from some one else's and made a small change to the code then NO the code is still that members and you would have to ask the member who made the code if you can post the code with the change BUT this code is still not yours as you never made the code you just changed it.

You can not make a Tutorial about the same code if it's not all your own work.

Those are the tutorial writers. Not the code makers.

In some tutorials, the codes are indeed made by their authors. But that is only mentioned in the code or in the tutorial to make it clear to everyone that the codes are copyrighted. But the pictures you are referring to are the authors of the posts and not necessarily the codes too.

Regards,
TC.

Solved Re: Who is the creator of the code?

Hello,
Just to expand on what both The Crow and Ape have already said, the codes you find in our tutorials are generally written by either the folks in our head office, a volunteer staff member (or former staff member) of one of the support forums or in some cases members who like to contribute code to the service. Every once in awhile a tutorial may use code from an open source project that is not associated with Forumotion at all, these codes are usually a collaboration of many programmers and coders who provide the source code free of charge to those who wish to use it. In all these cases credit is usually given if anyone other than the devs in head office wrote the code stating who wrote the code and under what conditions the code can be modified.

You are allowed to use all codes found in tutorials, including (usually) modifying the code to suite the needs of your forum as we have verified that the code is either open source, copyright free or the creator of the code has given us permission to distribute it. In all cases you do NOT own the rights to the code (as is the case with any program or code you did not write yourself), you just have the right to USE the code.

Keep in mind as well that you will often find the same codes and tutorials posted across several or all of our official support forums as tutorials are often translated by the staff of our other international support forums to suite the language of that forum and as such a tutorial would be posted by a staff member on that support forum.

Hope this clears it up a bit more for you,
-Brandon

All codes we use to make our Tutorials theme / Template is our codes and all of them are copyright but you can make something like this using tables, Basically that is all they are. We just use CSS codes and a little javascripts to make it look good and a button to pick the right one to post.

I will remind you that all the theme on this forum has a copyright to it and by law you can not use it. You should not copy any of our forum with out our say so.
