HELP! (Site listed by outsider) Empty HELP! (Site listed by outsider)

Post by krmosaic July 4th 2008, 6:32 am

I need some help. Somebody is unhappy and they created a gmail account that I am aware of and used it and listed my site on Google as their weapon of choice. See I run a support group forum for trauma survivors, and what keeps these people safe is partly that the site is not listed with Google. Well, I can't undo it because I don't have anything but the email address that was used to do it. Is there anyway I can get my site off google??? I haven't tried Yahoo yet to see if they sent it over there, too, but this is very disheartening for me. Please help us. We are a small private group of trauma survivors banding together to heal from it all and we want and need our privacy. Please help me.

Google has some information on how to remove you site from their list Here.
Although search bots will eventually find your site weather you want them to or not.

Thank you. I will try that, but I do know this was on purpose. Too coincidental because I randomly check search engines myself and it has never been listed before. I'll come back and see if anyone has other ideas if this doesn't work for me. I did check yahoo and our site is not listed with them.

Why not just make your forum private? Then even the bots will have a hard time searching it because it is blocked. Don't know how else to help. But I would like to know what kind of site it is- Please PM me Wink

How do you make it private????

It is a support forum for people recovering from the trauma of sexual abuse.

Don't want to totally block it in the way you mentioned because occasionally we have people that we personally refer and would like for them to have the preview of the index to get an idea of what the forum is about. Also we have a general information section that is available. We don't expect people to blindly register for our site. We take referrals from other members as well as certain trusted therapists and counseling centers.

Sounds like you need sections JUST for the public, but private sections for those you are helping.

My forum is like that- Guest can see the index and all the topics available- but they can't go in to read them unless they register. To do that just make it so guest can see the topics, but can't read them- this is in the same place I said in the admin under advanced mode. Any that you have up that guests can't read- the bots can't go in there since it is considered a guest Wink
