Why did you create a forum?

I am not asking why you chose Forumotion to create a forum, but the reason why you decided to create an online community.

I created my forum because I was looking for something for my blog. I decided a forum would be a good asset to have, so I created one. A while after creating it, it failed, as did the blog. So I deleted the forum and the blog and thought I would focus on just one thing. So I did. I created my new forum, MediaMania. I don't know why I went with a Media forum, but I did and I love it.

I created mine because I thought it would be a nice way too meet new people.

I have two boards, both outside Forumotion, and the reasons are different.

- the gfx one : When I first created it, it was because I needed to have my own website where I can share my FM styles. Then the purpose evolved in order to cover several board platforms (phpBB2, phpBB3, ...) and to share my Gimp tutorials.

- the general one which is French only : As I have social phobia, I experienced bad experiences on general boards I don't own and so, this made me being very insecure, especially since I developed a phobia of animal advocacy (I have a big panick attack - palpitations, shaking so hard that you lose control of your mouse, sensation of having a ball in your throat, loss of concentration - when I see a single animal advocacy-related topic) after I had a very anxiogenic experience where an extremist girl flamed me for taking defense of someone I know who owns a declawed cat, and being judged for a different opinion is the worst thing that can happen for someone who struggles with social phobia, because such anxiogenic events strenghten this phobia by trigerring the fear of being afraid and making you associate the panick attacks with the places or situations where you had a panick attack. And since I wanted to keep in touch with those Frenchies I know for years, I decided to create a bar forum where I can set my own rules and make sure to prevent panick attacks on my own board by strongly moderating subjects that are too anxiogenic for me.

I really like role playing forums and have been a part of various ones. My sister and I used to use the MSN forums for our Xmen and Vampire/Werewolf forums but those eventually closed down. We were pretty devastated since the MSN forums was PERFECT. For the longest time we tried making new forums but with the Chat feature gone nothing really seemed to stick.

I had just finished Fable II when I decided that it would be an awesome story to RP. The Fable universe had heroes, adventure, good vs evil and so I based my current forum off of that. The people I RP with love to tell elaborate stories. So I created it for them and anyone who enjoys sharing and writing stories of Heroism.

Once I showed my sister my new forum the first thing she was excited about was the Chatbox! I think I might coax her into creating her forums on Forummotion since it's has that one feature she loves

Well, I created my forum ( iWebBuddy.com ) , because I wanted to help out people with website design & development problems.

Also, help them by offering free services which webmasters would love, ( Free SEO Services / Free Link Directory Submissions / Etc... )

I also created it so that I can run my own community in my free time.

Made my Naruto RPG just to see if I could do better than others out there.
Though it has attracted a few not so good roleplayers, it now trains them to be better roleplayers ^.^

Well I created my Suikocross, because I love the Suikoden games and Chrono Cross.

As for my forum the Dark Horizon, I wanted a really kewl and fun forum. I was also getting bored of php, because my friend had a similar forum and I just wanted a zetaboards version of it. (cause I hate php so much)
