Text effects on portal Empty Re: Text effects on portal

Post by Cornelia February 14th 2006, 5:24 pm

I know some basic html codes and that's all.

To make a text scroll

Code:
<marquee>text</marquee>

To make a text bold

Code:
<b>text</b>
or
Code:
<strong>text</strong>

To have your text in italic

Code:
<i>text</i>

To underline your text

Code:
<u>text</u>

To strike a text

Code:
<s>text</s>

To have your text in color

Code:
<font color="COLOR CODE or COLOR NAME">text</font>

Knowing that you understand French, you can find other codes there : http://forum.forumactif.com/ftopic6897.Cours-de-HTML-pour-debutant.htm

If you have a toolbar while you edit a block of your portal, you can use it to put effects in your text.

note to herself : it'd be time for me to post a tutorial listing the html codes...

Toolbar = Barre d'outils

I talk about what we have at the top of the field, in the screenshot. This is where you have the B, I, U, S, etc.

Text effects on portal Toolbar8zj

We normally have it when we edit a forum, the homepage message or a portal block.

The cause of your problem is simple : you used BBCode, not HTML.

On your portal, you must use HTML codes.

BBCodes are with the [ ]

HTML codes are with the < >

So, to scroll a text in your portal, you must use this code :

Code:
<marquee>Text</marquee>

Hello

First, you can't test it in a post, HTML in posts is disabled on this board. And even if it was enabled, only a few codes work, such as the <center> </center> tag.

Second, I looked at your code and there are corrections to do, there are errors in your code and then, it would cut off your homepage or your portal.

Larme d'ange is currently online on my msn, so I will ask her.

EDIT : Thanks to Larme d'ange, she corrected your code :

Code:
<marquee direction=up width=80%><font color="pink"><b>This is a test<p>I hope it worked!</b></font></marquee>

Here is the results on my test forum, in the 2nd block on my portal : http://katt-test.forumotion.com/portal.forum

Sorry for the flashy colors, it is for a tutorial, so I needed to make the colors very distinguishables.

Hello

*switch back to English*

I hope it is enough...

EDIT : I did some test on my portal, by adding scrollamount="3" (distance in pixel between each moving) in the marquee tag.

Here's the code I tried :

Code:
<marquee width="80%" direction="up" scrollamount="3"><font color="pink"><b>This is a test</b></font><p><font color="pink"><b>I hope it worked!</b></font></p></marquee>

And the result : http://katt-test.forumotion.com/portal.htm

Is it slow enough?

While I am waiting for your response, I will continue to test on my other test forum.

EDIT2 : I tested again. This time, I added scrolldelay="100" (time in milliseconds between each moving).

This code :
Code:
<marquee scrolldelay="100" scrollamount="3" direction="up" width="80%"><font color="pink"><b>This is a test</b></font><p><font color="pink"><b>I hope it worked!</b></font></p></marquee>

Results : http://testbatmat86.forumactif.com/index.htm

Lol, at the same time, I'm learning to scroll texts Laughing

Really? That code worked on a site I had... and I was wondering if it would work on this forum. But that isn't the same thing. The test like bounced up and right and left-- I looked really cool cool-blue Oh well.

If you have nothing to say, it's better to not post.
