Gender Specific Topics, Not All Members?

Is there a way to create a topic, or Forum or whatever the terminology is, that only one gender can see? We're starting a forum among friends who want to be able to let the whole group of friends know about situations in their life and struggles and ask for prayer, but guys and girls sometimes have issues that the other gender would not be invited to read.
It's a rather odd request but one i'm sure is achievable, i just don't know how. Help?

Only way is by making a group and adding each person to its own group ie females to female group males to male group.
Then making a forum and setting the permissions to onlythat group to seeing it.

You also must set the group to "open group" if you are allowing a person to join anytime then depeding on your letting them be in the group, you can add their name.

You also need to go in and general>categories & forums>permissions

View the forum and its messages : leave blank
Write topics or messages : leave blank

I've been working on that myself and think I figured it out otherwise any member can see the group and it's messages.
