Re: karma
Karma, it's like when you make a usefull post, someone gives u +karma, understand?, maybe kind of "thanks" but in karma you can -karma
Re: karma
Karma would be a great addition. If you approve of a post you click a label that says "applaud" or "exalt" or "reward". If you disapprove of a post you click a label that says "Jeer", or "smite", or "punish. The idea is that the more Karma points the user has, the higher his/her status is on that board.
I have noticed that most boards using a karma/reputation system will not allow you to continually rep the same user until you've repped others as well. I personally don't like that option, but I think it should be the individual board admin to decide.
You could also set thresholds to alert the Admin if a certain level is reached. Say -10 Karma and the Admin should look to see why a user is ticking off other posters. Perhaps a warning prior to banning in order to avoid a problem instead of solving one. Or, conversely, if a person gets +100 Rep/Karma points the admin could consider adding privileges.
However, since I am not paying for the privilege of having a board, I am happy with how it is. Thanks.
But, if we are discussing improvements that might help generate more traffic.......... Just a thought.
