Forum Daily Backup
Well, I received a forum form an old admin who didn't want it anymore. He had the head Admin account separate from his, so the transition went smoothly. However, he's now starting to 'hack' the forum from the daily backup, just to 'show he's still the boss' or something. I can set for the admins/mods not to be allowed to retrieve their passwords, change the account's password, and ip ban him, but he'd still just be able to turn the forum around.
Anyway, my question is this: is there a way to shut off the Daily backup without the password for it?

Re: Forum Daily Backup
hello,
just because he gave you the account doesnt make you the owner of the forum, he still has the rights to change whatever he wants. he might be using the founder utils which only he knows the password to to get back into his forum, that would be the reason why changing the password will not lock him out, he is just resoring the forum to a past date. Also he might be using a proxy to get past the ip block or he is using a different computer each time.
As said above you are still not the owner of the forum so he can do what he wants with it as long as he is respecting the ToS.

Re: Forum Daily Backup
First, I already know he's using the backup to get in. I said I did. Second, it's the same ip, he's using the backup. Third, he said "I don't want this forum anymore" and would have otherwise deleted it.
Re: Forum Daily Backup
well just because he said that does not make the forum yours. he created it using his email and password which are stored in the directory and cannot be changed. He still is the owner/founder of the forum so he has teh rights to change what he wants, hence no-one can edit the founders account. that was made to prevent this from happening.

Re: Forum Daily Backup
He gave me the password. He said he was done with it. That's not even what this is about, this is simply me asking if there's a way to disable forum backup without the forum backup password. Is there a way to do this?

he founded the forum so hes allowed to change/delete/edit whatever he wishes.

It's not about him. I'm asking if I can turn off the daily back-up without having the user name/password to the back-up. Forget the part about him. He's stopped now, so that's not a problem. I just want to know if you can do this, and, if you can, how. That's it.

Hello,
Just to end it here, the answer is no, you can not avoid it. You cant put away the back up @machine@ , and even if you could you have no rights to the forum you are Administrating.#
If he is just playing with you I , in your place would create a same forum like it (copy it) and tell members to join the other forum, only of course if this is what you want, to run that forum...

Christos
