Did member banning increased ? Empty Did member banning increased ?

Post by Tarogasini December 7th 2008, 10:39 pm

Hello,

i was thinking... Since this warning bar came - is it just me or there has really been a lot of people banned lately ? And i dont mean some weird spamming & bumping people - but members who had few hundred posts and been active / helpful in this community. Honestly i didnt even see what & when they did wrong, and next time i looked at their profile - Banned.

And even "old" members. People who had more than 1000 posts got many warnings...

Like :

Kilsek ( 3600 posts ) = 2 warnings
Daijiro ( 2545 posts ) = 4 warnings ( or 3, not sure )

And when searching for ranks in Graphics section - people with 200-300 posts, who made several different ranks for free use on our forums has been banned and i cant even see what they did wrong & and where is that message by Staff => Member Banned ... Its like : they had no warning and a couple of days later already banned.

What do you think ?

Post by Guest December 7th 2008, 11:01 pm

What do you mean to include me in this?

Sure I speak out against forumotion but I try to do it constructively. I dont do stupid ass things like many have been doing lately. I have only been given a couple warnings my time hear

The people being banned lately are becuase they aren't following the basic rules: No double posting, no disrespecting members/staff, etc..

And just so every one knows, disrespecting members/mods in PMs will get you warnings and bans

I included you in this, because you have 3606 posts and you are and old forumotion member that has been here for more than 1,5 year. And yet you got 2 warnings after this warning bars appeared on support forum.

I just wonder, nothing more.

Hi Tarogasini.

I'm not going to sound like a smartass. But I'm going to tell you what my opinion is...

Actually it has nothing to do with the warning bar.
But for example when a member did something wrong, or broke a small rule; then he might get 1 warning.
But for instance if someone do a BIG fault, he/she can get an instant ban.

And you don't actually need to take examples, of i.e Kilsek (sorry for that Kilsek Razz)
I think you've made your post thorough enough. But that's your call I guess Wink

Oh btw Kilsek, I'll just quote the guy above you "but members who had few hundred posts and been active / helpful in this community."
Then he mentioned your name, in your place I'd be honored ^^
I think he likes you Wink

Anyway, enjoy yourselves & have a good day!

Regards,
Doomie

Edit: I agree with the dude below Wink

the "old" members you speek of that are banned are most likely banned before this new warning system came into place, hence their bar wont change because their already banned, and as for their warnings, their warnings could possably be in another section?

Kilsek, im sure he is just using you as a excellent example, after all you are.
Are you're the longest active member with only 2 warnings in 2 years! (approx. 1 warn per yr lol)

And yes, banning's have been increasing latley because of the disobayance of basic rules such as the double posting and no spam and the many other rules.

Well yes, but i am talking about the members that has been banned AFTER warning bars came.

True on that, but what caused that ? Honestly i started to asking myself all this nonsense questions after Demonspike got banned.

I believe this is an interesting subject, 3 responses almost immediately. Very Happy

Well, Demonspike got warned plenty of times by the mods.
I don't know what that means, but I think there might be people who PM people says something offensive... and that member reports iwth with a screenshot or something.
Nvm, I'd better not say anything I don't know ^^

Ok I am not a mod but been here for a while so I will try to explain this with out doing that moderation thing.

In the mod forum they keep a list of who has been naughty (but not nice). They have had this list for some time.

Now when they came out with the warnings bar they incorporated them warnings for said list with this new system. I had them two warnings before this system so I got the bar of someone with 2 warnings.

And so everyone knows, this is what will get you a warning or a severe one:

Disrespect member/mod serious (depends of words)
constant double posting
Spamming
Flame wars
using color text
Chat lingo in posts
advertisment in posts
Abusing the report function will get a warning as well!

that is a majority of them there can be more, so I would invite everyone to read this Post

@Kilsek,
Do you have any idea which MOD should we PM with any questions as the posted link says? don't they all say NO PM support?
I know i have PM'd one MOD with an issue and the Mod never read the PM....so.....I feel like I shouldn't bother.
People spam my PM box. post the private messages i make, are rude to me directly in the forum...doesn't seem to matter though. Rolling Eyes

If someone is rude to you via pm then any mod will listen to your concerns. As far as support via pm they mean you asking how to do something like add codes etc.

They don't accept if it's a support request who doesn't required a password recovery. They accept only if :
- You need password recovery
- You want to report bad behavior by PM.

And to help you, be sure to make your title explicit enough so they won't mistake it with support request. Example of title : "I want to report spam by PM", "Someone is flaming me by PM" or something like that. And provide a screenshot or a copy-paste including the headers, as proof.
It's just like email : Some people who run a website ask their visitors to add a tag related to the website in the email title, so the email won't be mistaken with spam.

Well, I think some members like Kilsek (Sorry) have gotten a warning for a small little incident that they did with their time on this forum. I don't think it's anything crucial, though. And as for the banned members, maybe they were banned because they have been double posting, spamming, and disobeying members, or staff for that matter. Just be grateful you're not one of them. Wink

lol, if I am not mistaking my 2 warnings are:

Got a bit out of hand with a former Admin

And yes for "moderating" lol

I am sure I could have got more with the way I go on about the tech, but I try to voice my dislike in a more constructive way then some who have been banned recently for various reasons.

EDIT: Oh ya if I get banned who will keep Caihlem in line? Skittles is too old Twisted Evil Nessa has cooties, alien luky is too busy getting drunk with Typlo. Oh my god

You all know that you did read and sign that you will follow the rules. But Caihlem did say
Also, we can't go through every pre-existing profile. We therefore ask you acknowledge the fact that not all previously warned members will have their profile marked accordinly. We can only guarantee that this is the new system from now on.
For those who have warnings; the green bar doesn't mean those warnings have been removed

oh, the old moderating thing.

I got warnings for that, too. But before the Warning Level Bar was made. I'd say lucky me^^
When I logged in again after the bar came up I also started with a green one. So, I can only say that the staff was really fair to "old" users.

What new members do here I can't say. I just know that I stopped showing up regulary because the new members were really annoying. I felt like I was sitting in a kindergarden... It doesn't surprise me a lot of them got banned.

If you delete your forum because you've been banned here, then so be it Razz

That would be rather unfair if we had to start treating members with big forums better than others pale

As for Warnings and stuff dropping, I know ideas to this aim were put forward, but no Warnings have been dropped, at least to my knowledge

KillerGuitar;
You're warnings are still there, they just weren't shown until you mentioned it Twisted Evil
As said in the Warning Bar presentation topic; all warnings are still present, we just can't do it for all old members TT
