Your Desktop (since the other seems pruned)
First topic message reminder :
As I changed my desktop's look for Christmas, I wanted to post my screenshots, but since the topic I created seems to have been pruned, I re-create it.

And now, as I reposted this topic, I'm the first one to post screenshots.
Here's my newly redecorated Ubuntu desktop for Christmas :

To know how to take a screenshot :
- Spoiler:
- Under Windows XP
Press on the Print Screen key, next to F12 key - see iimage
- Launch MS Paint (Start > All programs > Accessories > Paint) then do Edit > Paste
- Save your screenshot. I recommend the PNG format.
- Host your pic and post it as a link or a clickable thumbnail.
Under Ubuntu Linux
The method is quite simpler than under Windows
- Press on the Print Screen key, next to F12 (see image). A screenshot manager window will open with a preview of your screenshot. Give it a name and save it.
- Host your pic and post it as a link or a clickable thumbnail.
Under Mac OSX
Since I don't own a Mac, I just give you the link where the steps are given :

all my apps shortcuts are in the upper taskbar, that's why I don't feel the need to place them along with my two NTFS partition shortcuts, unlike my Windows desktop.
I like your desktop!

@efbe : Welcome in the Linux-users club !
On my side, I currently use Ubuntu Jaunty's default theme with the default background and settings since I'm writing a Gimp big-tutorial (in French) and so, I want to avoid multiplying window looks.
I haven't upgraded yet, I want to finish the chapter I'm currently writing, so I can have it validated before I upgrade to Lucid.
I haven't tested other distro yet, I have no much disk space in the first hdd which is partitioned like this :
C (or dev/sda)
- dev/sda1 : Windows system partition -> 20GB
- dev/sda2 : Ubuntu system root partition -> 6GB
- dev/sda3 : Ubuntu's Home partition -> 13GB
- dev/sda4 : Linux-swap -> 1GB
And my second hard drive (D, or dev/sdb, which is 200GB big), which has only one partition, is already used as data disk, and I have no external hdd yet.

Thanks Cornelia...i am not an expert with Linux by any means, but i am loving it. I started using Ubuntu a few years ago, not for everyday use but something to play around with on an old almost dead pc..Cornelia wrote:@efbe : Welcome in the Linux-users club !
