Program?? - You dont need one, and hitskin is different to regular phpbb/forum skinning, infact its extremely easy on forumotion, trust me Wink - ive done it.

Get your images, select them, and do whatever from the forumotion admin panel, dont worry about hitskin, do it from there, its easier.

You need a program to make the pics. Otherwise, using only random pics taken from the net without processing them at all ALWAYS result in skin failure.

I already talked about this, look here : https://help.forumotion.com/hitskincom-support-f48/creating-a-skin-t27543.htm

Picking pics from the net occasionally works, u just need to organize it PERFECTLY and add the nav bar and all.

you talking about skins bit, that shows hum much people search?

Look at my link, then take the last link, you'll see why I talk about failure.

Just in case you don't understand my directions, I give you the link : http://fr.hitskin.com/utilisateurs/coccinelle-26062.htm
This is what I can call an Epic Fail

say what?
sarcasm out of the way ... NO... there is no way in hell that one of those themes will look nice on a forum.

It seems easy to create a new theme on forumotion but thats not always the case... It all depends on your experience with graphics programs and how they look on the net.

Its rather improbable to create a tutorial on how to make a new theme step by step, because there would be a load of posts and a load of typing. Video tutorials also fail because theme creating is quite time chewing.
But I can give you a very quick over view of how things look.

A big factor that determines if you can create a theme or not is your knowledge of CSS.
If someone knows a bit about Cascading Sheets, then they wouldn't be asking how to create a theme. But you are probably reading this making googly eyes , not understanding a word.

So for people who are not enlightened to the wonders of CSS you have the basic colors console in your admin panel. Go to admin panel -> display -> colors.
There you will see a load of boxes with colors... you are welcome to play with those colors and get the look you need on your forum. You have an automatic preview on the side so you can instantly see whats going on.
Later once you are satisfied with your colors it would be wise to get some custom images. Starting from the banner to the pesky moderation images. For this you either need a graphics artist to do them for you or you need a graphics program to help you.
a list of helpful programs:
Adobe Photoshop - the ultimate graphics program at the ultimate price
GIMP - a free program that wants to be like photoshop
paint.net
and a few more

If you are planning to make your own icons I suggest reading something about web 2.0 images
they look best and are universal. grab a few tutorials from google ... like this one.

Once you have completed an image or a set upload it to a host like imageshack or photobucket or use the builtin servimg uploader. Go to admin panel-> display -> picture management -> advanced.
locate all the images and replace them with the new images you created.

and thats how forum themes are built.
For more exciting themes I suggest signing up to a course or schooling in CSS and then try out the possibilities (that are almost endless) of the CSS tab.
