Home page question Empty Home page question

Post by icecheeks December 31st 2008, 6:28 am

I don't really want my home page to be full of portals but would like there to be a message on the front page above the login box. Once people are logged in, that is when they can see all of the forums but would like them to be able to at least see a welcome. Is this possible?

There isn't any option for doing this. You can suggest this in the suggestion section if you wish.

This may be a silly question but where would I put this code?

Is there a way for a nonregistered guest to see the forum titles but not be able to enter them?

You put the code in place of a username.
Code:
Hello {USERNAME}
will read as:
Hello Using php in posts is called being a smart ass... Stop it

You will need to alter the permissions of the forums for allowing guests to see the forum, but not read the topics. Go to your Admin Panel > General > Categories & Forums > Click the forum Home page question Perms button > Advanced > Check "Guests: View the forum" > Uncheck everything else for guests > Save > Repeat for each forum.

I did that but it allows them into the forums and they can read everything which I would like to prevent. I don't mind if they can see the forum categories but don't want them access into the actual forums until they are registered.
