what is the points system ??? Empty what is the points system ???

whats the point system ? and how does it affect myself and my members ?

i've looked up topics on here but nothing really explains it to me my understanding of the points system is members can acquire points ..... "thats it" so how do they acquire them ? what can they do with them ? how does it effect my website ?
