Solved 'Your session has expired.'

Post by Rok on April 5th 2009, 6:17 pm

Okay, this is just so freaking annoying. Every time I try to moderate a thread or a post, the next page comes up with a message that states 'Your session has expired.'. I can't do anything and I have to rely on my own moderators to moderate the threads / posts that I want to moderate. I am not just going to switch browsers all the time when there is an involuntary mishap with ForuMotion.
Another issue I am having with ForuMotion is the stuck-up administration panel I have. When I try to navigate through it, it just takes me back to the 'Home' tab. I can't even do anything on my own damn forum. There's gotta be some tech help for these situations. And like I said before, I can't keep dealing with switching browsers just to moderate one little post. It's just pitiful. Something has got to be done with this please.

I wouldn't say that people are ignoring you. They just might not be answering because they do not have the answer to your question.

Yeah, but it's been going on for about 2 weeks. Today I got extremely pissed off, especially a few minutes ago. I posted only one thread, and then it copied into other 5 threads- so basically, I made one thread, and 5 of the same threads were made. It's freaking retarded. I have to PM my own staff to just lock a thread or something, and that is just absolutely pitiful. I'm so pissed off at this stupid moderation thing in my forum. I can't even access my damn admininstration panel to even do anything, What's the whole point of being an administrator if you can't even moderate your own forum?! Seriously! This is just pushing me to the last nerve and it's been going on for way too long. Can a tech or someone please get this over with.

have you tried refreshing the page when it comes up?
also is it a message on the forum or is it like a web page coming up?
either way if you hit refresh it should reload the page.

dose it look something like this.if so just refresh
'Your session has expired.' 2z5lp48

or try to get a few screen shots if you can. the whole thing sounds a lil bizarre to me.What about did you try restoring your forum to an earlier date before these problems started?

I tried the best i can to go back to the previous page and restart, and I have also tried refreshing over and over again. Nothing works. Sometimes, it'll let me moderate, but mostly it doesn't work at all and it comes up with a page with my forum theme and just a message stating 'Your session has expired.'- the message doesn't pop up in a new tab like you stated.

it sounds like you have to go to the tech page and request a tech.
see i have bin on a phpbb paid forum for the longest time and was thinking you had session control among other things as refreshing and updating your forum.

so even if restore the theme it's not refreshing the whole forum. but you can try it. restore the theme to a few days before you started to have the problems.

also try contacting a admin here to try to get you a tech. i think that's what you have to do.i know it sux. just try to be a patient as you can until they can take a look. then if you continue to not get any help complain..lol i dont dont mean here. but give it a day or two it usually takes a Lil time to get a tech on the scene.

in the mean time just double check all your settings but i did not see anything in there for taking care of this matter.

maybe try switching to another version for a lil wile then switch it back.

oh wait you can try this too. Automatic daily forum backup.

admin>general> security scroll down to Automatic forum backup.
first make sure it's active then click the link.
if you admin panel is still going crazy here's the link for that.
https://www.forumotion.com/en/utils/

and be sure your browser is up to date. i know a lot of people have bin haveing problems with the new IE8. so make sure that's updated or what ever browser it is your using.

that's about all i can think of. try those things and if still nothing put a request in for a tech.
Hang in there you'll get it worked out

Thanks.
My moderation perferences are back, but I always have to use another browser to access the admin panel (which is extremely frustrating).

Dial-Up has basically nothing to do withthis situation. Dial-Up is connected to our IE, yet in IE, everything works fine.

Solved Re: 'Your session has expired.'

Post by Rok on April 13th 2009, 2:15 am

Well, I left my forum for about a day to spend the night with a friend, and I came back today around 4 PM and I used my original browser to check if things are working out properly, and I got to moderate at least 7 threads and access the Admin Panel thoroughly. I guess this was just a minor screw-up in the browser (like MrMario mentioned), so I'd say everything's okay now. But, if this continues, I'll make another thread based on it.

Thanks for the support, MrMario & kirk!
