(Only Topic) Chatbox no longer showing messages unless signed in to it.
First topic message reminder :
I have noticed that you now have to be signed in to the chatbox before any messages are displayed. This never used to be the case and it may deter people joining it because they think nobody is on it.
Does anyone else have this problem?
The site is at http://wolf3d.darkbb.com/ .

Yes, we've been saying this for over a week now. Are the techs aware of this introduced bug? Are they working on it?
I'm getting inquiries from my members about when the chat box is going to be back in working order; we all really miss it.

We are also having this trouble and it's causing a lot of problems. Not only does the chatbox not show who's in it and the ongoing chat, but even when you log in it won't automatically refresh (even when the box is checked). The only thing you can do is log out and back in and hit archives.
Is there anything that's going to be done about this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

This happens to me too
Maybe I'll try that
kirk wrote:what i usually do when things start going wacky with the chat box is turn it off for a day or two then turn it back on. sometimes moving it from the top to the bottom of the page will help sometimes too. but i found just turning it off for a wile works best.
either that or just get another chat box. like typlo said it has bin fixed but sometimes there are still small glitches with it?

I tried turning it off, and had to resort to another chat box, but it isnt as good as the one on the forum.

What have those photos got to do with the chatbox. Grow up!

Hi there I still have the same problem with the chaybox: can't refresh, can't see archives etc....
It must be a bug somewhere in the system as one of the posters said. Can we at least be informed of wht is happening? Thank you.

This is also happening to my forum as well.
But i've gotten used to not getting any help/support at all from this support forum so i'll just accept whatever bugs and glitches that'll come my forum's way.

Hi guys, I also got sick of problems with the chatbox, so I found a better one for my forum.
Go to www.chatroll.com and sign up for a free chatbox that can be embedded on your forum. It works in real-time, you don't have to sign in to see messages, and it also has a pop-out option so it can open in its own window.
You can also specify the height and width of the embedding, and the colour scheme.

I would like to add my name and forum chatbox to the list of people experiencing problems with it.
namely, the chatbox on my forum unifyingforce.adoforum.net is frequently not auto-refreshing for members (yes they are logged in to the chatbox)
I hope the technical team are aware of this problem and will try to fix it swiftly.

Same on my forum, the chatbox has gone from one of the best free forum ones to one of the worst.
I'm sure this will have a negative effect on forums staying with forumotion.

I'm rather new at this, but can this be installed on the main index page? We don't have a portal. Also, exactly where do we paste the html code in order to do this; where in admin panel do we find the spot?
I came into the support forum today specifically to find out about something like this to solve the chatbox problem, once and for all.
Walk me and all other newbies through this step by step please. You would make a lot of people very happy, including me.

When you sign up with ChatRoll, they will provide some embedding HTML code for you to paste on your website. For Forumotion, go to the Admin panel, click Display, then under Homepage, click Generalities.
There is a section there called Homepage Message. Paste the HTML code in the message content area. Your chatbox will show up exactly where the Forumotion chatbox used to go. You can edit the code to change the height, width, colors, etc.
See the image:

I also placed a <center> and </center> code to make sure the chatbox shows up in the middle of the frame.

Re: (Only Topic) Chatbox no longer showing messages unless signed in to it.
Adding an external chatbox isn't the answer a your site security is then very easy to breach.
What is needed is the inbuilt one to be fixed.
The refresh problem is a major fault and one that needs to be sorted.

I doubt it.badger01 wrote:Adding an external chatbox isn't the answer a your site security is then very easy to breach.
Yes, this is right. This has been going on for weeks and we've heard almost nothing from Forumotion. In the meantime my members are constantly complaining, so something needed to be done. In my case, a 3rd party chatbox and some serious thought about moving to another forum provider.badger01 wrote:

Thanks so much Prizm! We will be using this maybe as soon as tonight!

Re: (Only Topic) Chatbox no longer showing messages unless signed in to it.
Admin, any update on when chatbox will be fixed please? thank you
Re: (Only Topic) Chatbox no longer showing messages unless signed in to it.
I too experience the not refreshing problem. you might try clearing your browser history. Maybe cookies too. I did this and it started refreshing like it should right away. See if it works for you too.
I'll try and keep you all updated if it continues to work or not.
