Pop-Up Chatbox!

I've got CoolPreviews installed on my Firefox, which has recently updated it's "locked" feature so that previews will remain open even if you refresh or navigate away from the page you previewed from. Now this is great for me, I just CoolPreview the Chatbox and have that sit in the bottom right-corner of the page. But this isn't so great for non-CoolPreview users (either they don't understand Firefox Add-ons, don't want it, or don't use Firefox, etc). So I think a similar thing would be great as a built in forum feature!

Useless. Just open a new browser and go to your chatbox link, then resize your window.

But that's effort for something which could be done much easier. Some people like single-window browsing, that's why they invented tabs. You'd have to resize the main window to fit the chatbox next to it (which can mess up look of the forums for people with small monitors, or even mess up things you have in other tabs). Plus, the chatbox looks ugly when maximised vertically, so I'd personally shrink it... but then you have an odd square of desktop poking through.

It only takes two more seconds of your life to open a link for a new page its not like its going to kill you isn't it? If I'm this lazy to click a link to have it in my new tab I would have to turn my computer off and never come back.

B) I HATE lazy people

C) IDK Heard of TABS
They save time (about 2 secs to switch between them)

D) I use firefox, and have never heard of that such feature!

E) This would involve a pop up like new window

F) I hate pop up windows!

G) If it looks ugly, change the colour (duh)

H) if u dont like it, find another chatbox to use, or live with it how it is!

I don't like this idea sorry. Voted no. You can do what the others told you to do .

So instead of taking the effort to open up a new browser for yourself -- It's just a click away, man! -- you're gonna ask someone else to spend countless hours coming up with the programming to make it easier for you?

I'm sorry, but there's so many things out there that would actually be helpful. I'd much prefer the fine folk at forumotion focus their energy on these tasks instead.

Take Dr. Inferno's advice... set up a link to do it for you so you only have to do it once if what you really want is a quick pop up for your chatbox. It's a simple process. It's just not fair to ask someone to do for you what you could easily do for yourself, just because you don't want to take the effort to do it.

I'm not doing it for my sake, I have CoolPreview... but a couple of my members would prefer a built-in pop-up Chatbox because tabs/windows interrupt forum browsing and you have to remember to check up on the separate tab/window for messages. Convenience isn't always laziness... tabs were invented for convenience over multiple windows, I fail to see how going further and making further separations within a tab is so "lazy".

The Join Live Chat link at the top took me to the bottom of the page, and the Join Chat at the bottom opened a new tab. Neither is on-screen pop-up like thing. The closest thing I found when was I first opened the site I had a log-in box following me... if we go program that to load the chat, and have the option to move it about/resize it/lock it in place than there's the perfect thing.

Actually, I've changed the link. But you can still have a pop up if you code it with javascript.

See, psycho, think of all the possiblities. It doesn't have to stay so convenient. Sure that's great, but anything takes effort right? As you can see, Doctor Inferno has pointed out a good method. Try Javascript!
