I don't see why you purchased something when you don't even know what it's used for. First of all, do you have the phpBB2 version for your forum?

Ah, okay. Very Happy
I don't have a lot of time on my hands right now, but:
  1. Adminsitration Panel
  2. Display tab
  3. Help please? Type_li Templates

Don't have enough time to explain it, but try taking a look at where I navigated you in your Admin Panel. Maybe darren1 can come help you out where I left off?

Cheers,

Hi,

darren1 to the rescue Smile

The templates is used to edit many things such as the footer, and the moderation tools along side many many many many other much different things, which help make ur forum your forum, and as unique as possible.

Although I do not know much coding, nor do I know much about php that is used in the templates, I can guide you through it all.

An example that is used here on the support forum is the footer at the bottom of the page.
Go on, scroll down now.

You see
Spoiler:

But if you go to my test forum, this is what you see a similar footer:

Spoiler:

Now, I can tell u that it is using php codes, and that my footer is simple, but then id be lying to you.

My footer DOES use php codes, however, it is also using java and html as well (it wasn't doing that 1 month ago) the footer is not as simple as you think it is. Wanna know what it is?

Wanna know the code for my footer?

Code:

                        {ADMIN_LINK}

                {PROTECT_FOOTER}

Yup its long, and not so simple.

There are many things you can use in the templates to edit your forum as as:
Mod tools
User' profiles
Posts private messages
Portal
usergroups
and so forth.

Because ur using phpbb2 (or u can be using PunBB for this trick now days) I want you to click on the "General" button, and see what you are looking at.
Now you will see many new things, thats understandable. - You will learn about them as you play with them Wink

You also have a question: Why is there 2 footers? "Simple footer" and "Overall footer"
Now, I can't answer that, however I wouldn't edit the "simple footer" I'd only edit the "overall footer".
Now the code I used above is from the "Overall footer" which I can edit in to add many many things such as a clock at the bottom of my forum, and copyright materials.
So many things I can say u can edit, and add in that I'd run out of space in this message.

The easiest thing u can do to learn is by playing with them, and learn that way. - It's the best piece of advice I can give you Wink

Now, another coder will come along and correct me if he/she wishes Smile

EDIT:
I'd talk more about the templates, however I really have to go to work now, and I can't afford to be late, and I nearly ran out of posting characters Wink
