Odd apperance in Who's online section Empty Odd apperance in Who's online section

Post by Guest on Sat 18 Jul 2009 - 19:42

I was browsing my forum recently, and in the Who's Online section, I came across something I've never seen before. Right next to where it says 0 Guests, it said 1 Bot. Below the line of registered users, it said bot=Google. Has anyone seen this before, and knows what it means? Thanks for any information you can provide.

its the google web crawler gathering information on your forum, to publish for its search results. you will see it alot, you may also see MSN and YAHOO bots if you have submitted your site to their search engine . Very Happy

you dont do it via the Admin CP you go to the search engines and submit it there.

http://www.google.co.uk/addurl/

http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html

http://www.webseo.com.au/add_url_msn.html

and so on for other search engines.
i am sure there is a tutorial on here but i cant find it.

You do that by yourself. By presenting good information and constant updates on your forum. More traffic/members will get the google bot to come and consider.

Thanks, but I thought there was a page in the Admin Panel that had the links to the top search engines. That page is what I was looking for. I know how to do the rest.
