Solved Forum security

Post by lottysvdub July 22nd 2009, 12:25 am

Hi guys
ive just spent the last couple of hours with one of our club members on the phone with a problem with them logging in , the last couple of days they have been struggling to get on to our forum , they havent been able too or its been hit and miss for them . tonight there username was showing as on line while i was talking to them on the phone , now they couldnt access the forum , i checked the ip addy and it came back to someone in leeds ( england ) now our member is from portsmouth a good few hundered miles away !! with our members permission i logged in under there partners username and it when on line no problems so i then checked both ip addys and they were deffo totaly different . I took the action to ban the unknown ip addy which seems to have cured the issue of someone else using the members id but they still can not access the forum , this i think is more down to there computer more than anything else .
My worry is how can someone else get one of my members details and log in under there username ? i know the member personaly and they have assuredme that they havent let anyone know there password , this has also now been changed again for there security .

Any suggestions or advise would be greatly appreciated

our forum is called southcoastcougars.com if anyone needs to know

many thanks

They shouldn't unless someone knows their email and can see the details or he/she told someone. I would recommend that he/she clean their cache to see if that works to log into th forum. Also change the password to the account and the email. Really nothing that you can do as Forumotion is really the ones that deal with the Security of the forums.
