Why categories don't show up on some forum themes?

Hey guys, sorry if this question has been asked before but I'm a newbie and wasn't sure. Basically, I have an animal welfare forum and the skin I'm using isn't allowing the categories to show up. For example instead of being like this:

Board Talk
- News and Announcements
- Feedback and support

General
- Chit Chat
- Animal Welfare

it turns into this:

Forum
- News and Announcements
- Feedback and support
- Chit Chat
- Animal Welfare.

Why do some themes only have each forum in one category labelled 'forum'? Why won't the categories show up and the forums be in their right place? Sorry if this has been asked before. Thanks in advance, Emma. *X*

I had this problem too! here is what you gotta do:
Administrator Panel > Display > Structure and hierarchy > from there you will know what to do. Smile
