Solved Apostrophes in URLs not interpreted as part of the link

Post by Vito August 12th 2009, 1:02 am

I'm trying to post a link to a Wikipedia article in one of my forums. Here's the link:

Code:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_man's_hand

The problem is that entering the URL into the message composer (regardless of whether I use the Link button in the Toolbar or I simply enter the link as text) yields this result...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_man's_hand *(See Note, below)

...wherein the message composer automatically forces a termination of the link when it sees the apostrophe, such that the apostrophe and everything following it are interpreted by the composer as not being a part of the link.

*Note: Sorry for the use of bold, colored text formatting, above, which I know is normally reserved for use by moderators. I'm only using it here to clearly differentiate the syntax the composer inserts from the part that it rejects.
This has been a continuing problem with posting Wikipedia links in my forum, and I presume it's true of all forumotion forums. Many of Wikipedia's links use the title of the article as part of the URL. If the title includes an apostrophe, the composer simply refuses to recognize it and everything following it as part of the address. It's not just true for Wikipedia pages only; the composer automatically corrupts the link for any page whose URL contains an apostrophe.

I know I can insert the URLs that contain apostrophes using the Code button, as I've done above, but it seems to me that the automatic exclusion of apostrophes is a bug that should be fixed.

I've tried changing the character encoding on my browser, but nothing seems to work. The composer simply rejects any apostrophe as being part of the URL.

Is there any way to "fool" the composer into accepting apostrophes as part of the link?

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.
