Solved Change color of link in posts

Post by aylah August 27th 2009, 7:10 pm

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I did try and search, but I couldn't find an answer to my question.

Now.. on our forum, if we have a link with our posts, the color is white, the same as the text, and this makes a link hard to notice, especially if it's been inserted in a word. Hyper linked, or what it's called.

I've tried changing the link colors, but all it does is change the links (navbar) on the front page of the forum, and does nothing within posts. I've also went through the CSS stylesheet, changing numerous color codes to see if i could find the correct one, but I only had the same result there.

Would someone tell me how I can change the link color within posts, without affecting the links on the front page of the forum?

Thank you!

if you change the link colors all the link colors will be that color you chose so
you can't change the link color of the posts!

That can't be true, because when I changed the link colors, it didn't change the color of the links within posts. Only the navbar and such. So there must be a color code to the links within posts, cause that one is white, no matter what color codes I change.

I'm using phpBB3 then.

And no, the "active link color" changes the color of my navbar. I don't want that. I want them to stay white.

The way that I do it....
[url=http:// *the name of your link*][color = *color choice*] LINK [/color][/url]

The word LINK then becomes your active link in your post with what ever colour you choose. Red Blue Orange whatever.

Glyndwr: I can't possibly have all the members color their links. It would never work.

AiKieika: I'm all for changing color codes in the CSS, if someone could tell me which code, or where to add a code. Cause I've been in the CSS Stylesheet all day, and I've yet to find a color code that changes the color of links in posts.

BioBob: How will changing the background help me separate normal text from links, when those are the same color?

bobob
read again what she said

the problem is not that the links arent readable cause they have the same color as the background
but the broblem is that the links have the same color as the rest of the normal text

hence changing the background wont help at all

Changing your forum style/theme is the solution!
but that would be ( F***ed UP)

EDIT: i got it! i think

why don't you change your forum STYLE not the theme but style
when you find the style you want dont save it as : pictures and colors but only colors

( if you don't get me follow this tut but at the end don't save it! if your sure you want to do it! )

go to Display -> choose a theme -> Styles -> then click on a style you like then!!!!

uncheck PICTURES and leave COLORS checked. now your forum colors are changed!
and the theme is as it is! pictures also! look at the preview check out some forums in the preview if you like it!

save it! DONE DONE DONE

but if this messes up your forum Im not responsible
"try restoring your forum"

I would have done that if the forum was 100% mine, but I'm only a co-admin, and not the founder. And the founder really likes the theme we have now.

Oh well, I guess it's not the end of the world having the links the same color as the text.

Unless a mod or admin of this site knows how to do what I asked, you are free to close this thread.

On a phpBB3 board, you can change the link color within a post with a simple addition to your CSS:

Code:
.post .content a {color:red;}
Feel free to change the color from red to whatever you want. I really hope you read this before you follow the advice you've been given thus far, because playing with themes is at best risky, and at worst will leave your board unusable. The themes part of the admin control panel is a little, um, buggy...

Thank you! I didn't do anything with the themes yet. Is there any specific place in the CSS this should be added?

One wonders who has the ability to read here.

In the post of mine you quoted, I wrote:The themes part of the admin control panel is a little, um, buggy...
And "aylah", you can put the CSS rule at the bottom of your CSS. If you're using a Hitskin skin, you might need these two rules instead of the one I provided above:

Code:
.post .content a {color:red ! important;}
.post .content a:hover {color:blue ! important;}
Only use this if the first rule doesn't work.
