Need help on seperation of Homepage and Forum

Post by Torem Letum on August 13th 2006, 10:03 am

I have a question. I was wondering whether I can seperate the "Homepage" and the actual forum. You know.. like a webpage. Homepage will display first and then there will be links to it (only few though) and one of the link will link back to my forum. Is it possible to do that?

Hello and welcome on Editboard's Support Forum Smile

Before answering your question, I will ask you to change the title of this topic, as asked in this section's rules :

- Topic titles : When you post your question or your problem, you must use a title related to your problem/question. Words such as "Urgent", "SOS", "Question", "Problem", "Hurry" are not tolerated. Capitals should also be avoided.

Once you have done that, I will answer your question Wink

Thank you,
Knight Wink

Hi ^^

First of all, thank you for changing the topic's title Smile

So, you want a portal for your forum Smile

To install the portal, just go to :

Admin pannel Arrow Portal arrow: Configuration

(if you don't see that, click on the little arrow at the bottom of the left column Wink )

Then, install your portal, and go back to the portal configuration.

In order to have the portal displayed before the forums :

Activate the portal : yes

PS : you can also read this topic, you might find it useful Wink

Thank you. But that is not what i meant. I already have a portal. well.. its better if you see the forum itself: Dark Fangs

The main page is the portal as you can see. After that people will click on "Home" on the top left hand corner to check out the forum to reach to our forum. After clicking on the "Home", we can see "Homepage" (according to the administration control) and we can scroll down to see the forum. In darkfangs forum it will be like "Welcome to Dark Fangs"

What I want is that I want that "Welcome to Dark Fangs" in the front line/page instead of the portal.

example:

Planeshift link on the home page -> Planeshift main site
Dark Fangs link on the home page -> Dark Fangs Forum

etc

Ah, ok, sorry Embarassed

Well, you can try this :

Admin pannel Arrow Portal Arrow Configuration

- Width colon 1 (left) : 0%
- Width colon 2 (midle) : 100%
- Width colon 3 (right) : 0%

Then, go to :

Admin pannel Arrow Portal Arrow Portal Structure

Delete all the existing modules, and create a custom block.

Name of the block : give a name to your block
Use a table type : Yes
Block title : I recommend you leave a blank (what you write here will appear, and there will be a border line, I don't think that's what you want Confused

Then, submit (don't write anything in the block source field Wink )

Next, go back to :

Admin pannel Arrow Portal Arrow Portal Structure

Add the block you've just created (Add/Delete of personal modules), and the edit it.

You now have the HTML Editor, so you can put images, links, and whatever you like Wink

Here, take a look : http://tests.forumotion.com

I've put a single image jujst to show you what it will look like, but there's no limit to the number of images you can add Wink
