Solved Calendar reminders

Post by DrewBlank January 10th 2010, 9:39 pm

Hi!

Members have their birthdays marked in my forum calendar and I'd like to be reminded when someone's birthday comes along, so that I can put a Happy Birthday 'name' message on the Home Page. Is this possible please, or must I always have to manually check the calendar?

A long shot ...................... Is there a way of a birthday marked in a calendar automatically triggering a Happy Birthday banner on the Home Page, or a BIG Happy Birthday message at the TOP of the Home page, under the header instead of just at the bottom of the Home Page in small, inconspicuous type?

Thanks again. :-)

You can do is set up an area under the who's online and have Upcoming Birthdays

Admin Panel // User & Groups // User Options // Look for Birthday // Allow birthday management // Yes // Then change what you want there // Once done // Save

I see. Thankyou. That's not too bad. However, is there a way of getting an Email reminder of this, as when a post is made in a subscribed thread, or when a private message is waiting to be read?

Just wondering. :-)

Also, what do each of these do?

I've put text in the second one and the subject one, but nothing appears on my Home Page other than the name of the user with a birthday today.

For ........... Birthday message subject * ............. I just put anything to test, such as: JJJJKKKKLLLL

For ........... Birthday message * .............. I put : Happy Birthday . . . .

What am I doing wrong? Being stupid, I guess! :-(

Please don't double post unless its been 24 hours from the last post.

You mean when you get a PM you have something telling you do have one?

Profile // Preferences // Look for notify when I get a PM // Yes // Save

The message gets sent to the user in pm so it won't show up on the homepage.

I was asking if this is possible for calendar reminders. Not for p.m's.

i.e. an Email to me, the Administrator, telling me that it's someone's birthday on "This Day".

There is no email system telling you who birthday is it.

When you set the Birthday you will see Birthday look forward : Pick what you want and it will show who has a birthday coming up and the day who has it in the Who' Online at the bottom. There isn't any other option for Birthday besides what I said.
