Solved Disabling Posts In The Root Forum

Post by Gothicarna Mon 18 Jan - 8:19

How do I do this? I have been searching this board for a while now with no luck. I've tried editing the permissions but still no joy.

If somebody could help me with this it would be much appreciated.

Basically I have a forum with 3 sub-forums. What I want to disable posting in there but when you click on the main forum I want it to hide everything bar the sub-forums. Is this possible?

Sorry if this is in the incorrect section.

what you want to hide the sub forums.. the only way would be with the permissions or if you wanted to allow allow certain groups to view/see them.

there might be another way too but you have to explain a little more on exactly what you want it to do.

Ok I'll try to explain it again sorry it didn't make sense before.

I have a category within 1 forum which has 3 su-forums. I want to make it so that no posts are allowed in the forum and only posts are allowed in the sub-forums.

I would also like to be able to hide this:

I think what you want to do is add the link leading to the sub forums board to your forums title.. in text/link form.

then you will just bypass the forum they are in.. but i need to see your forum to be sure? when you click on the forum in the category dose it show all of the sub forums or dose it show the forum first.then you have to click that to seethe subs.

if so then what i said above is what you will want to do.

Code:
[url= overall sub forums link here] your forum name here [/url]

most likely it will have to be the html code below.

Code:
<a href="overall sub forums link here" class="postlink"> your forum name here </a>

then place that as the forums name and it will redirect directly to the sub forums page.

as far as the last thing i am not sure? i have to remember where that comes into play in the acp.. but if it's taking you to the forum if you click them. then just have the permissions for the forum set for admins. this way even if members to click it they wont have access there.

You would lock that section up leaving the sub forums unlocked in the permissions.
