Username censoring Problem Empty Username censoring Problem

Post by 19CenturyWBTS February 11th 2010, 9:06 pm

I'm searching for a method to disallow new users from using numbers in their usernames when they register on my role playing forum, because the forum username is the name of that users character at the same time. The minimum length for censoring is three letters - so how should I go about censoring numbers from 0 to 9 or special characters like " $ % = / * _ +[]{}.?

I already tried something like *1* but the usual asterisk-wildcard thingy doesn't do the trick for username censoring (I tried to create accounts with 1 in it and despite it being on the censor list I was able to do so)...

I'll be thankful for any ideas how I can get this done...

(I'm not certain this is the right category for this question - should it belong elsewhere please by all means go ahead and move it.)

First I have to thank you for your effort but...

"Concerting?" - Well I'm unsure of what you try to tell me or where you really try to point me to because if I check the advanced Admin Panel in the General tab I just see the following options:

======================

Forum Address
Security
Forum Deletion

Username censoring

So I'm at a loss since there is no sign of that "Concerting" option you are speaking of. Should you be trying to point me to the "Username censoring" option under the point "Censoring" I'm fully aware of where it is as I pointed out in my question above I tried to use it but it didn't work as intended.

I'm still trying to get the numbers and most of the special characters banned from being used in any form in the registration of forum usernames of my forum but since a word for censoring must have 3 letters you can't ban single numbers and single special characters - so how does one do it?

Help would really be appreciated.

Only option is Censoring and there is nothing that you can do to change the limit of the censoring

I see thank you for the reply - so the bottom line is that what I'm trying to do can't be done?

I have stumbled across this issue. And wanted to censor text talk words, but as they are sometimes below 3 letter count it won't do it. So will have to monitor members who may do abbreviated typing. Which is frustrating when you have an auto option there.
