Solved 10 letter rule

Post by princessoctober103 Wed 19 May 2010 - 22:08

I am wondering if it is possible for me to put a "10 letter rule" on my forum so people can't reply with emoticons or "LOL" and such.

TIA,
Princess

i never head of such a thing and it dont sound like something that is really a problem?

you can remove your emotions.. but as far as people typing things then may be you can do it as a word censor of some sort i dont know.

But why.. why would you not want to allow people to put there emotions or text emotions.. it' just sounds silly not to allow this.

It'd be like someone telling a massive story, then someone replying with "LOL!" to get their post count up. It just gets annoying sometimes.

This is the exact reason why. For some reason, members on my forum feel the need to be "top poster" and try to post random emoticons or they will start a thread and then reply to their own thread in post #2 just to get post count up instead of answering their own questions in their main post and it annoys me.

I am on a few forums that a box pops up and does not allow your comments to be posted unless it is 10 characters or more. I guess just not on FM sites, which is ok.

My 'Forum Officer' can handle this task and clean up these posts Very Happy

Thanks everyone!
