Google Sitemap NEVER WORKS... Why? Empty Google Sitemap NEVER WORKS... Why?

Post by Guest June 24th 2010, 4:44 am

I already verified my site via Meta-tag. I have a google Bot that shows up on my site occasionally. However.. No matter what I do... Google does NOT accept any type of sitemap I give it... I created an txt XML of my site... Created an HTML page with the txt XML code, placed it into google (File name: sitemap-h1.htm) didnt work. The status ALWAYS receives a red X. I typed the word "feed" into site map because I read on a thread here that it works.. Well.. It didnt.. I typed the word RSS, didn't work... Idk what to do anymore.. My site is not showing up AT ALL on google so I have no traffic entering my site.. I need some serious help on this..

You use the meta tags and place it at Admin Panel // General // Search Engine // Meta Tags

As stated above, I have done that. I followed everything I should have done. I know the meta tag works because as I again stated above, Google Bots are showing up on my site occasionally.

If there is other meta tags I should be adding, can you please tell me where to get them specifically?

I have followed every detail accordingly on these 2 threads.. NOTHING WORKS.

Here is what shows up for me on google everytime i try putting a sitemap.

Google Sitemap NEVER WORKS... Why? Warnin11 May I remind you that double/triple posting isn't tolerated unless separated by 24 hours (Use the edit button) Wink

It only works with meta tags not HTML, nor feed.

It takes awhile for Google Site map to work. You need a lot of post, sharing links to twitter and users.

I see..Well currently my site has about 500 post. I'd think thats a reasonable amount of post by now for a site map to work.

It it unclear to me when you say it takes a while for google site map to work.. How will I know? Are you saying that I dont need to to add a sitemap file into googles webmaster tools? I'm new to this whole process..

Ehh.. I guess this was over looked.. Still no help here yet. Apparently google was not excepting the site with "www" but only without it.

However I still have a problem. only ONE out of 500 submitted URLs are being indexed into google.. I have waited for a week to see if the number changed and still it only says 1 URL indexed out of 500.

Can someone please help me get my site indexed? I don't know whats wrong..

Create a new HTML page on your forum.

Paste this below :

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<urlset
xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9
http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9/sitemap.xsd">

After you've added the above, edit the code below and paste your links that you want search engines to find :

Code:
<url>
<loc>http://www.forumotion.com/</loc>
<changefreq>daily</changefreq>
</url>

Find & replace https://www.forumotion.com/ with your links to your forum and keep using the code to add more links.

Once you've finished adding links to the site map, end off by adding this below :

Code:
</urlset>

Save your page and get the link, then submit it to your webmaster tools and give it a minute to verify that your site map is valid.

Very good

Thanks i'll give this a try, however I will say that i have done exactly this method already. I used http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/standalone-google-sitemap-generator.html and then separated the sitemaps in two with 250 URLs on each side, all coded the same way you gave me that code above. Basically I made 2 HTML sitemap pages and submitted that to Google but they only accepted one of the 500. -___-

I will use the first code you presented me with and reply here with an update on my status, i'll test out 10 URLs to see first.

**Edit: Well... Google accepted only ONE URL still.. Which happens to be the same URL it accepted before. It has still not indexed any other links... smh (shaking my head)Evil or Very Mad . Seems like the problem still remains.
