Solved How can I change the drop down menu text color??

Post by Guest July 1st 2010, 7:41 pm

Okay so at the top of the page where it says "Search..." The text color is white... The background of that text box is a dark burgundy color. That looks nice for that part as well as the other parts of the site you insert text into. However, the drop down menus, such as the "Jump to:" drop down menu shows a dark burgundy background, with black text. I have tried to fix this but I cannot. No matter what color options I mess with it always remains black.

To help solve this I have made the text box white, but then it clashes with the white text. The text needs to be light because my site has a dark theme. If i made the text black you wouldnt be able to view any text on the site. Also having white text clashes with the "accept" and "deny" buttons when registering to the site. When people are registering, the text looks the same as the background of the button so they dont even see what they are choosing.

None of the basic color options are helping me enough to solve these problems, can somebody please help? Perhaps give me the proper CSS codes to change these colors

Try editing your colors with this
Code:
#search-box #keywords {
color: lime;
background-color: #A17244;
}
("color: lime" is the text color)

Some sites look better without that box
(there's already a search box on the nav bar)
You can remove it from view with this
Code:
search-box, .search-box, #search-box {
display: none ! important;
}

Thanks, that worked only on the search box though. Not the drop down menus, for example the "Jump to" drop down menu text is still black! Sad

Jump to & Quick mod tools boxes
Code:
select {
color:red;
background-color:blue;
border:1px solid #105289;
cursor:pointer;
font-family:Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;
font-weight:normal;
padding:1px;
vertical-align:middle;
}
("color: red" is the text color)

Thanks RoNo, you're a great help to me on this forum working with the coding. That worked! I been trying to figure that out for a week! Can you by any chance help me with another color code problem? Here is the link I made for it: https://help.forumotion.com/manage-the-appearance-of-your-forum-f45/problem-with-hovering-over-text-t73157.htm
