Force A Reader To Read A Thread
Hi,
I did search for this, and could not find it, so pardon me if I am repeating something already posted about.
I am quite new to this thing, and a friend of mine started his own forum and made me an admin. I was telling him about a program that a friend of mine told me about on how to force readers to read certain threads before they can move elsewhere in the forum or post anything.
Now since his forum is going to have certain rules that we need everyone who joins it to read before they start posting, is this option possible?
The website that I was given was a link to a vbulletin forum. I don't know if it is only for VBulletin or not. The forum post says it's a Hack so IDK if it's legit or not.
Anyway, is it even possible to force readers to read threads so that there is no issue with them saying "I never read that rule" or something?

I guess you can make an HTML homepage and make an agreement or Terms of service thing. They have to accept to continue? Is that what you mean?

Demonic-Diva, Bold and Color are reserved for moderation, like this, so please keep to the default font

Alpha Pkz --> I guess that might be something like we are looking to do. We are both smart, but I guess I might have to ask a different friend of mine for help with that because they know more about HTML than I do, and my friend who started the forum. Or do you know anyone that might be willing to help? I know the people I know are more familiar with BB coding, and not really HTML.
Sanket --> Why is it just reserved for moderation - Stupid question I know. I always post in colour and/or bold because it is boring and hard for me to read anything not in bold, especially when it's such small print.

We need to maintain a certain amount of professionalism & good looks in the forum. If we allow bold & color, we will see all decorative random posts. Thanks for your understanding.

Good Point, however, isn't there a way to just block all users but moderators from using certain features like that?
(stupid question I know)

Re: Force A Reader To Read A Thread
Yes I think there is, because my guests can post on certain forums but they can't use bold, italics, underline, or smilies, so I know it's possible.
Re: Force A Reader To Read A Thread
I think you can make a pop up (like the log in) that forces a user to accept agreements.

Is this kind of what you're after: http://therikechronicles.darkbb.com
If so, post here or PM me with the things you want it to say and I'll set it up for you

LBT --> That is exactly what I was talking about. I am going to give my friend a link to this thread, and see what he says about it and get back to you (or he can create a screen name and get back to you via pm or posting in this thread. I will be sure to let him know to mention my screen name LOL.
TechGuy --> Yea, that was directed toward the mod since he said that they prefer the use of bold and colour for moderation purposes only, but that is very good to know. That might be something my friend and I might look into as well.
Drogba --> Thanks for your reply.
