Password protect whole forum site

Can I password protect my whole forum from unauthorized visitors/guests?

Hello,

I'm sorry but that is not possible to my knowledge.
You can however, prevent guests from viewing the threads & forums via disallowing guests from viewing anything in the permissions ( the X/Tick of each corresponding forum)

So how would I go about making the forums inaccessible to members only, and members can only join by invitation?

Now that is impossible, but there is a work around -
Make your users only activated by yourself, the admin
Admin panel >> Users & Groups ( Tab ) >> User options > Activate user = Admin & Save.
You can activate users via the "inactive users" list

Okay I set that up and during my trial I removed a test user as they didnt meet the requirements but the email message to tester isnt accurate. Can I change this meesage?
