Solved Buy issue for html pages

Post by Master Marc July 11th 2010, 7:00 pm

As you all may have noticed, you can't use the word, "buy", on HTML pages because you get an error message.

But, I've found a method to use this word in HTML pages. ( no images / just text )

Is there anything wrong with using this word in my HTML pages for my forum? ( want forum moderator to answer this question )

Thanks!

I know that. But, I can insert the word "buy" easily on my HTML page using a simple method. ( want to do it for my Internet Marketing web page )

I just want to know if I am allowed to do it or not... I don't know why they're stopping us from using this word, but there isn't anything in the ToS about it ( unless it's a french law or something ) , TT I know why they don't want us to use those other words, by the way...

Well its a protection feature, which means its not really allowed. Yes, its not written anywhere in the TOS.

I will ask someone if he has any information on this.

I know that and that's the only reason why I'm asking this question. The word, "buy" isn't really a bad word like "porn", etc...

I just prefer to use the word, "buy" , than "purchase", because I'm targeting this word to get more traffic from search engines.

i never heard of this.
you saying if you add the word buy to a html page it's going to come up as a error..

i may be getting what yous are saying confused.. not sure. i will have to test it.

But yeah mark if thats the case i have no idea why that is or how to fix it.. i mean text should be text regardless of the word unless you have a word censor? dunno

Forumotion added a word censor that doesn't really do the job right, heehee... ( I can easily insert the word "buy" without getting an error / if you try to add that word the old fashion way, you'll receive an error, by the way )

I just want to know if I can use the word, "buy" , on my html pages, because I need that word for a certain html page. I don't know why they are trying to stop us from using the word "buy" on our html pages. Many people use that word on their forums every day...

PS. You'll receive a private message from me in about 3-4 minutes... ( not related to this issue, Dawa )

Solved Re: Buy issue for html pages

This is insane.. Razz

what if you have some kind of paragraphs or story or something and it has the word buy. because of one word the whole html page would not be allowed to go through.

I dont understand this it makes no sense.. forumotion allows people to basically make money off your sites if you wish to. you can advertise and sell basically what ever you want as long as it's not illegal and followed TOS.

So for the word buy to be blocked in a html page creation seems a bit far fetched and ridiculous.. i dont understand the purpose of this at all..

And you know what else. this is the first i have ever heard of this. so i mean what if someone is creating a html page you do not know about this.It keeps getting the errors then they come here and ask for help.. i would never have known what the problem was and would probably have to pass it on to typlo and request a tech to look into it befor i even knew what the problem was.. of course typlo would have known what it was..

But the moral of the story is text is text and i realy do not see the purpose of haveing this word censored and blocked out from html pages when you can advertise or sell what ever you want on your forums as long as it's not breaking TOS..

Well at least i know now if i ever get someone getting this error when creating a html page

i can think of a few more words that would be more appropriate to have censored.
but buy... lol Rolling Eyes

The censor is aimed to prevent spam, but if you have no aim to spam, you can freely use the word.
