Search engine bots should not index the report an abuse page
I noticed that my forum is getting traffic from nasty people that are searching for porn or similar content on search engines.
Guess what web page from my forum was indexed on Google, for these nasty keywords... That's right, the report an abuse page...
Also, there isn't only one or two disgusting keywords that people are using to find this page from search engines, There are a lot of different keywords...
I don't have any of this content on my forum. The only page that has the word, "porn" is the report an abuse page. ( If you don't believe me, I'll private message you a link )
I'm only going to private message a staff member if they'd like to know the keywords to find the 'report an abuse' page of my forum, on search engines.
So, I'm suggesting that search engine crawlers shouldn't index the 'report an abuse' link.

Forumotion should let us edit the robots.txt.

Re: Search engine bots should not index the report an abuse page
I agree. But, this page is already blocked... Link : http://www.iwebbuddy.com/robots.txtDoctor Inferno wrote:Forumotion should let us edit the robots.txt.
As you can see : Disallow: /report_abuse.forum
But, it's not stopping the link from being indexed from outside websites linking to it,
So, to fix the problem, meta tags that disallows search engine crawlers from indexing, should be added to the report an abuse web page :
- Code:
<meta name="robots" content="noindex" />
PS. The amount of visitors that are finding this 'report an abuse' page, from searching for nasty keywords, are increasing everyday.

Re: Search engine bots should not index the report an abuse page
I agree, it's daft that the bots should have access to it.

Exactly is that page only visible to staff? If yes, bots should not be able to see it.

Re: Search engine bots should not index the report an abuse page
Honestly I think that page should just be removed. The only reports I have ever got from there was trolling or harrassing and somebody claiming a code I posted was theirs(it wasn't).
