How to add blinkie?

I would like to add blinkies to the members in my forum that have a job. I am the admin, and have mods, but I also have other members that advertise and that sort of thing. Is there a way for me to put up a blinkie on their page, like under their name or something...so that other people will know what their position is?

Example...if I had a blinkie made that said "MOD" ... I would like to be able to post that under their name somewhere. Not have them do, it but me. If there isn't a way that I can do it myself, I could just get them to do it though.

ACP --> Users & Groups --> Profiles.

Create a new field (big green X) for said "blinkies". Make it an image list, and only accessible to change by the member, Moderators, or neither (you and other Admins). You can choose to put this anywhere in the list "All About (enter member username here)" by changing the order of the fields. You can make this show up on both their profile and their posts, so anybody can see it if they can see the profile / post.

Or maybe just add Special Ranks.

First off, I said "blinkie" when I meant "button". I apologize for that.

Drachemeister - When I tried your method, I added it to an image list, but was unable to see how to add it to an individual person's profile. Also, I am not sure how to add more than one rank to a person.

Sanket - I had tried this way before, but it either said that my file type was incorrect...or it just didn't show up. Also, I couldn't figure out how to make it go on a specific person's profile either. Or how to make more than one rank for a person.

What file are you using, since its a blinkie it should be gif.

For two ranks, then you will need another profile field as Drachemeister is suggesting.

I was trying to copy and paste the url from photobucket. I just don't know how to make it work...or how to post them on to one person's individual profile. I would think it was easy and I feel like I'm missing something. A lot of people use ranks...I don't get what I'm missing. I have a feeling its easy and I'm just over looking something.

What you need to do is put a check in the checkbox that says "Profile". Once you have your "blinkies" added, you can go to each member's individual profile, edit the "blinkie" profile field, and choose the image the goes with that member. I have some images below to help you out. With the setup shown in the image, if you upload the images into the Image List (shown below empty), no member of your Forum will be able to change their respective image except Admins with access to the ACP.






In order to have a specific image show up on profiles, you will have to go in and edit the profiles yourself. In order to do so, find the "Blinkies" profile field on somebody's profile and click the green and orange arrow. Find the image meant for them, and set that as the image for the member. Then validate it.




To add more than one rank to somebody, you could always create a second field, or make two "Blinkies" as one image if you have to.

What is the image url that you use?

Well, I've been using the images that are on my photobucket and not having much luck. For example, for my moderators I've been trying to upload this image with every way I can:

Do I need to change it somehow?

The images are jpg, hence they are not blinking. It should be a gif image uploaded to tinypic.com.

So, can you tell me how to make a jpg file a gif file? Sorry...I'm new to this, as you can probably tell!

Well, I converted it , then added an image list.

I wanted to add my button that says "Moderator" on there. It went through and was added just fine...the only problem is that is shows up on every single person's profile. There are a lot of members on my forum...and I going to have to go into each and every profile and edit it?

Well you can give it to members as well. So that way the members images become default, so go on & change the moderators images.
