Restrictions

How exactly can I create groups on my forum so that I can put people into them such that they will only be able to post in a particular forum? I cannot figure out the group controls for this.

Change the permissions for these groups.
General>Categories and Forums
Click on a forum name Permissions tab.


But remember for this to work, you will also need a basic members group as well.

Well yeah, I figured it would be the permissions. My problem is I don't understand how to operate those permissions. I can just get a list of something which seems to show their permissions for each forum, but I can't change them.

Its really not hard. It tells you what each box does. If you like click advanced permissions and you can see everything. If you disable guest to see anything on the forum only members and up can see. This also goes for admins. If you allow only admins to see no one else can see it.
