First topic message reminder :

Share your experience and tell by what means you have increased your forums' ratings.

1. Add your forum's URL in the main research engines :

* Google - Most simple, but it takes time before your URL is added.
* Dmoz
* Yahoo
* MSN
* Altavista :
* Sapo (Portuguese)

* ... send us other URLs, we will add them

2. Add your forum's URL in specialized websites :

* Forum Search
* ...

3. Talk about your forum in other forums wich have approximatively the same subject

4. Talk about your forum in the Forum pomotion section

... what else Question

I leave this topic here for a while, so that you can give us websites/research engines you know to add them to the list, then this topic will be moved Here

Hello I agree with this. I set up a a Bravenet "Tell a Friend" facility * it was being used a lot & brought in new Users. But the service was discontinued by Bravenet. I've just added a Topic on this Support Forum's "Suggestions" Board - for an optional "Tell-a-Friend" built-in feature for our Forums??? Wink

well my forum has taken off like crazy since i opened an 'imeem' account and uploaded some music and pictures that relate to my forum. i advertise my forum on my imeem account and now we have well over a thousand members. it was the best thing we ever did to increase our forum members. people embed my music in their forums and that is all good advertising for us!

look guys the only way your going to get guranteed hits to your forums is by getting your forum listed under (search) "title/subject" forum(s).

One way to do this is to spam the subject title on google by openning up free geocities account and making loads of pages all linking to a subdomain and then redirecting your subdomain to your forum addy.

You can do it on geocities easy as its url each page. for example
http://www.geocities.com/phoenixbooby2000/ebooks.html

NOTE the ebooks in the url - now this will list high on the engines as all yahoo geocities sites get automatic high rankings due to yahoo's numbers.

Now an important bit - everytime you want to go to your forum .. go through the geocities link. It hits A your subdomain and B the forum link al at the same time THREE for the price of one - he he he this trick is worth bundles - i should have written an ebook about it.

Oh well ....!

good luck ...

Oh and one more thing it takes time for any url to get onto the engines like months usually...!

Another neat little trick is to make a webring .. i can do this for you but its gonna cost ya ....! (check out my site and my webring icon which i made...!)

Increase your forum's ratings - Page 2 Empty to advertise your site

Post by thomd004 March 17th 2008, 2:54 pm

to simply advertise your sites on the popular search engines like google do as follows,

1.click on the admin panel on your site
2.now click on home on the admin panel then you should see in the right hand site a couple of links like google etc.
3.click on which ever one you want to do first,then it will auto maticaly take you to the page where you put your site info in.

REMEMBER, YOUR SITE LINK WONT BE ADDED STRAIGHT AWAY THEY WILL HAVE TO REVIEW YOUR SITE FIRST THIS WILL TAKE ONLY A COUPLE OF HOURS.

Here's a question !

My website is www.ukfishingforums.co.uk but when i type in "UK Fishing Forums" it doesn't come up in any of the searches ! if i type "ukfishingforums" (no spaces in between words) it comes up ? how do i change it so that when some one types in "UK Fishing Forums" (with spaces in between words) because lets be honest who's going to type a search without adding spaces in between words ?

You can add a description and other meta data keywords. Then google will recognize those words. It also helps to have the words you expect people to search on in your forum, so on your home page, in posts, etc.

This one has certain criteria. But it does take board submissions.

SUBMIT YOUR BOARD
Webrings might be another way to go.

my forum is doing pretty good right now just google free forum advertising on the internet and it will be advertised on websites like youtube or adventure quest or popular websites like that =]

Edit (Sunny) : Link removed, you have to accomplish the 1000 members without spamming the support forum. Cool

my goal is to have 1000 members by October im 1/4 of the way there

I find that like doing posters and putting them in shops with link etc works.
Obviously do it for the type of forum you have like minre parenting so i put them in cafes baby shops etc.
Game ones can go in like game shops etc

Thanks for the great information. I am really seriously looking for ways to increase my sites traffic! I am nearly ready to sign up for google adwords, but not sure if it is worth it. Does anyone know? Yahoo has a similar thing and I understand msm is coming up with it soon as well. Just wonder? Any ideas?

thanks, lilypad~
