Buying a domain; will my Forum be transferred too?

Hello,

Just a question; when I buy a domain from Forumotion or any other organisation, will I be able to transfer my Forum and all all its content? Also, will I be able to redirect people from the old Forum to the new one automatically? (Or will it stay synced with the new one?)

Domain has got nothing to do with database transfer. You can only transfer your domain name from forumotion with the help of a domain name transfer code.

Nothing gets transfered to anywhere but the domain name to another host. The use of a domain name is up to you.

Hmm... it's not very clear to me. So... for example, my Forum name is "www.mywebsite.bestgoo.com" and I buy a domain via Forumotion, which'll be "www.mywebsite.com", will people get to my Forum when they go to www.mywebsite.com or do I have to create that page myself?

You, as well as your members, will not notice any difference in your access to your forum. Some might still see your old address but this is nothing to worry about. Your new address will still be a dotcom without forumotion in it.

Ok, thanks, now I get it. But still one more question lol; if people browse to "www.mywebsite.bestgoo.com", will they come on the .com Forum and will the two be synced together? (So, when I open a new topic in the .com forum, will it also appear on the .bestgoo.com ?)

Having a custom domain name makes it easier for search engine bots, etc to find you & for people to remember your URL. When I bought my domain name from Forumotion everything went very smoothly & the procedure was completed well within the given time frame.

I have had no problems since buying my domain name through Forumotion. It is so simple to do & it went without a hitch. The price is reasonable too.

We are now in the afternoon of the 1st day of 2011. So far so good.
