New profile field

Is is possible to make a new profile field (NOT UNDER CONTACT), which can be a URL type?

Screen shot shows "types" of new profile fields..... Can I get around the fact that "website" is not on the dropdown menu list.

I want a field in the profile to show a certain URL, and dont want it under CONTACT.

Are you meaning adding a image to the Text Field?

No, a website, like you can create a new Contact field. Contact fields dont appear on the main profile, and other users have to go to CONTACT to view a certain user's websites.

Use text field and ask your users to type in a URL to a website there.

i did what you suggested, and a new profile field appears..... only, the link users type to a URL in there, is not clickable....
It has to be a "website" type.... in a "text" type, links dont work.

They could just copy and paste the URL into their address bar.

But, are you trying to achieve something similar to the support forum? There is a website icon right underneath the poster's details.

What Im trying to do is this:

I activated BLOG on my forum..
Users make "personal" blogs by creating a topic with their username as title and basically add comments.

I want to add a PROFILE field with a CLICKABLE link to user's blogs (users with blogs will insert the URL to their blog topic with their username as title) ....

An easy way for other users to get to....ie when viewing a profile.... and without having to go and look for it under CONTACT field (where a new "website" field can be made)....

If you want the links to be click-able then the only way would be to create it in a contact field.


Just be sure to select (profile) and (messages) for display, when you have it set for messages this means it will show in all post and replies members post.

as far as the default option you do not even have to put anything in there

Ok, thanks for all your help.... I will use the "website" icon under contact (which DOES appear on a user's profile as well as the Member list) for the blog link.... and create a new contact field for just regular user websites.
