Solved [Help]Customizing Your Forum

Post by IamSpiX11 April 30th 2011, 9:07 am

I have several questions on customizing my forum,..
just like the one on this paid forumotion website...

forum version: punbb
here is the link
Code:
http://www.creative-labz.com/

on the forum above, there are several features on his forum, that i wanted also to be on my forum, but i don't know where to start, and how...

I will post screenshots of the features i've seen on his website, and i would make a simple explanation on how i think it was made,

1. The Dropdown Menu
Spoiler:

you could personally visit the site for live action, i think he customize a template, but i dont know which one...i really want to have one...
and look at that envelope image on the right side, it is his inbox button, wth, he made it to that side, away from the other buttons? any idea? did he totally edit the template?

2.&3. CMS look a like
Spoiler:

Like on most cms and blog website, there is this "recent activities" and "featured topics"
which i find really awesome, another, the arrangement of his categories and forums is quite unique,
it is horizontal and waah, awesome, i really dont have any idea on how to do that, im sure it is his index page, and not the portal...

4. profile show/hide
Spoiler:

he has this button when you click additional info/profile fields/points/reputations will appear..(as pointed by the yellow arrow)

5. Additional Profile Field?
Spoiler:

look at that, i think that is an additional profile field that can only be modified by a moderator, that one is like a achievement badge, when you achieve this "thing" , you will need to message a mod to have an additional badge, what do you think?

6. A posting Reminder
Spoiler:
look at that thing (highlighted red), whenever you click the "new topic", you will see that reminder, more likely a global announcement that will only appear if you will create a new topic, or whenever you reply..
that thing says "Please Read The Rules Before Posting. Click Here to read them.", in default, phpbb3 or other version do not have this feature, any idea?

another, look at that (highlighted yellow),

Spoiler:

that is like a preset button that when you click it...
a preset code will be on your text area, like this

Spoiler:

i think that's it for now, i will add another soon...

if ever there is someone who is willing to communicate with me every now and then to finish and improve my website, well that is very much appreciated, and if not, kindly post the "how to's" in this thread..

any kind of help is highly appreciated, thanks!

I don't think so. mwii

If it's not going to help the problem or answer the question at hand, then please avoid bumping another topic that you haven't made as it's considered as spam. Instead, let the topic creator do that. Wink

Lol it is not mere looking at codes...you can't see the templates... you can't see javascripts inputted on the templates, what you can only see is css, and classes...
i'm no novice, don't spam like that

4. profile show/hide
Spoiler:

he has this button when you click additional info/profile fields/points/reputations will appear..(as pointed by the yellow arrow)

that is achieve through template editing, using divs and classes...
the only thing you need to have is that dropdown javascript..
and the others are piece of cake,

p.s. you can lock this thread for i have solved all my questions on my own...
