Adding sub-forum notification... Empty Adding sub-forum notification...

Post by PlatinumWata May 2nd 2011, 12:22 am

I want to add a big logo to my forum, and then have sub-forums that are links.

I think I know how to make it where I can make it where I can have a big logo for the main topic, and then links to the sub-forums. However, I am wondering is their any way to let me know that their is a new topic/post in that subforum. (since its only a link, how will people now something news their)

On SportGFX, they do this. However, their sub-forums have notifications.

A example is here - http://sportgfx.com/forum.php

So, on their the Announcements is the main topic, and Staff Applications & Recruitment is the sub-forums that are links. The icon to the left of the link lights up when theirs a new post.

Let me know how this can be done.

Thanks all, that may help.

That is not a Forumotion forum. For this support site you need to be using Forumotion.com as your host, even if you have your own domain. Forumotion uses phpbb 2 or 3, punbb, or Invision, but not vBulletin.

Hello mate,

I have a Phpbb3 forum, that uses Forumotion as a host.

I am asking is it possible to do what I want (in OP), using Phpbb3.

Theirs normally a way to do everything, but of course in a different manner.

The link you gave leads to a vBulletin forum not using Forumotion.

Oh. Embarassed REALLY sorry. I have a tendency to read over obvious yet small and important things. Well, to have subforum notification:

1. Admin Panel (advanced) >> Display Tab >> Structure and hierarchy
2. Set either keep or split categories, but make sore you set it on "None" either way.
3. "Save."
4. Ta-da!
