HTML/CSS for top menu Empty HTML/CSS for top menu

Post by lisa1302 May 11th 2011, 8:11 am

Hi

I hope someone can see what I have done wrong here!

This is my top menu http://www.babiesandall.com/ - that page shows the menu when its entered in the homepage message - it works perfectly, and sub menus show correctly (and exactly how it does on my test page http://www.babiesandall.com/h42-test )

My issue is that adding it to homepage message only puts it on that first page, for it to appear on every page I have to enter it in the header template (I assume I've put it in the right place, after the <head> tag? )

This is what happens though http://www.babiesandall.com/f67-banda-news-updates if you hover over Forum in the top menu for example you will see ugly spaces on the top of every sub menu.

I've only added the code to homepage message so you can see what i mean about the difference between what I want it to look like and what I don't!

I don't understand why the html/css works on my homepage message and my test page... but puts ugly spaces in when its entered in the header template?

Any ideas please?

TIA flower

i am not sure what you mean by the ugly spaces?
it appears ok to me?

for the spry code do you have java,css,and html coding.

i think you may be better off having it in your over all header template but i would have to see the coding? did you have to host a java file and also insert the css to the java code as well?

if yopu like you can pm me,

But it should run down something like this. providing it is the script set up i think it is.

Code:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>

<script type="text/javascript"
 src="YOUR HOSTED JAVA FILE LINK HERE"></script>
      <style type="text/css" media="screen">
<!--

TOP PART OF THE JAVA CODE HERE

<STYLE TYPE="text/css" MEDIA=screen>
<!--

CSS CODE HERE

-->
</STYLE>

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<title></title>
</head>

<body>

BOTTOM PART OF JAVASCRIPT HERE
If any?

</body>
</html>

Yeah see i just did some testing with a custom spy menu in dreamweaver.. so i would have to see all your coding to better help.
If you like post it here or you can send it to me and i'll test it out. but it seems like you have it working fine and i dont see any ugly spacing or anything.. actually a good job on the spry menu creation who eve did it. it loks nice and goes with your forum perfect Smile.

This might work, please try finding this in your CSS:

Code:
ul#cssMenu li a.topmenu {

...and delete the background image that comes with it. Wink

I did think about that as thats what it was showing as being ... I didn't do it though simply because the top menu parts that don't have sub menus are also called that ... oh well will go and see what happens!

hmmmm well I have removed the image from every line that related to topmenu, nothing made it go away.it changed slightly but it didnt go away!

This is it now in firefox
HTML/CSS for top menu Menusp10

I think I am going to have to take the image out of every line individually and see which one it is Shocked

Thanks though!

Yeah, it changed slightly and I think it actually looks really nice at the moment in my opinion. Wink

You can try experimenting with the CSS and see if you get your desired effect.

It doesn't look bad to be honest! Better than it did for sure because now the 'space' just appears over the empty space behind it ...

I might have more of a fiddle after the weekend ... big party..bad head..old lady..I might take a while to recover though!
