should we have a new account IP system?
Multiple Memberships IP Warning system.
First topic message reminder :
Most sites have a ip scanner system on them that will flag up the members that have the same ip address and tell the admin's the ip and the names of the users.
Right now the only way to see the ip and the ones that have more then one account is when the member makes a post then you can click on the ip button.
Only then it will show you a list of ip's and names of the account used With that same ip Address
How this system would work:
The system would be in the ACP in the Security page or Users & Groups >> Under Handle users
The system will be like this And the member would not need to post at all before you see this info.
it would only work if the ip is the same thou.
example:
WARNING: This user has more then one account With the ip address.
You the Admin would then pick yes or no to the user's account's
I know some admin's make a test account on there forums so this system would help by saying yes to there own accounts.
Please give me your votes and comments, If you Vote NO please say why i will not be Affended in anyway
Thank you.

User Name | IP Address | Date | ISP Host Name | Allow/Disallow Options |
Dave | 189/35/9* | 12/03/10 | ISP WOULD GO HERE | Allow/Disallow user? |
Lee | 189/35/9* | 23/05/11 | ISP WOULD GO HERE | Allow/Disallow user? |
Ellie | 189/35/9* | 25/05/11 | ISP WOULD GO HERE | Allow/Disallow user? |
- If you click yes then it would then Not flag up again unless they made one or more account's again,
- If you pick NO then An Email would be sent out saying that the Security system has found there ip to be the same as one other member and has banned the new account or some thing like that or a Admin could Email them telling them why there account was locked out.
I know some admin's make a test account on there forums so this system would help by saying yes to there own accounts.

I love this idea. Very simple and practical for Admins to have to safeguard the integrity of their forum.

I vote yes. It would also give admin a chance to check to see if the duplicate account is legit or not. Sometimes, it's possible that an account has a problem, which this would fix.

Hi
This would be VERY helpful for gaming forums. Lol, based from my experience even in vbulletin and weebly, a lot of trolls tend to sign up x_x...
This would be an awesome feature that would upgrade the forum staff's efficiency in order to catch those so called violators, along with the guarantee that the members of the forum would have a safer and more enjoyable environment .
Thanks for the suggestion and I voted yes .

Re: Multiple Memberships IP Warning system.
Then the system will not work unless there IP address is used at the same time as one other name ( so if say i log in as Me then log out and log back in as bill then again in as ted and then as cath then it will pick them all up and tell you.
Other then that there is not any way any forums can find a member with more then one account with a number of other ip's

Whoa. Awesome idea, I vote yes definitely. This would improve the function of the Forums, so I think it should definitely be added

Re: Multiple Memberships IP Warning system.
Hi there,
I voted no, only for one reason..... I run websites that are user friendly,
in the sense that I rarely have any trouble on them, and if I do it has been pretty easy to identify and fix, and my users feel comfortable in the sense that they are trusted, and many of them in some of the forums I admin or mod at, are not just global, but sometimes specific location targeted. For instance, I know for a fact that a few people on my music site are from within blocks of eachother, and are using the same isp carriers.
On the other hand, I think it is actually a great idea, but would only want this if we had the option to turn it on, or off. I also see it possibly causing problems for legit users, and registers. The spam filter seems to cause a problem sometimes, I would hate to think a community website would start having similar issues with sign ups.
But as I said, if we could conveniently turn this feature on or off, without any glitches occurring, it would be a great addition.

Re: Multiple Memberships IP Warning system.
Yes it would have a way for admins to turn it on or off also if you are happy for a member to have more then one account or use the same isp then you can tick the member as safe and it will not pop up again it would just keep an eye on the account in the background until the next account was made with the same IP address then tell you
But yes you would have the right to turn this off in your admin page.

Thank you for your Votes
I would love to see this put in place and it would not be that hard to do i don't think.

Re: Multiple Memberships IP Warning system.
A definite yes for me,
As "admins need these tools to monitor quickly and rapidly for potential spammers" or others like them who contantly create problems on forums,
