Solved Norton safe web verification

Post by OMGitsDMC June 18th 2011, 6:47 am

I need to verify my forum with Norton so it is recognized as a safe site, it has given me 2 options to verify it,
1: meta tag

Copy the meta tag below and paste it into your Web site's home page. It should go in the <head> section, before the first <body> section (not sure where i could put this)

2:Upload an HTML file Upload the file to the root folder of http://www.talk-of-the-toon.com/. (not sure what to with this either)

can someone help please?

Hi,

The only option that we here at forumotion can do, as we don't have access to the Root Folder is via the Meta Tag.
Admin panel >> General > Search Engine > Meta Tag > Add new > "Create a Meta Tag Type" > Select > add the details & save again Smile

If your forum has templates, I guess you could put the meta in the templates.

I'd like to include user validation in my web app, to prevent the user from creating many accounts.

For example, when a new user signs up, they must enter a mobile phone number, receive an SMS, then enter a confirmation code.
I Request the Forumation admin please add the app.

Thanks!

Geordieboy80,

Can we get a screenshot of the meta tag, it should work.
Is the tag split up so the "content" info (Such as 15589-558-9967-2-3) and the name "Norton meta tag") in their correct boxes with just the content?

Lottostar, please open a new topic, as your topic isn't similar Wink

try adding it to your forums description or announcement.
If that don't work then the only way i see it happening is with template edit and you would have to change your version.

Admin panel>general>messages and emails>announcements

be sure to select for all pages, do not have the scroll option on and hit save.
Then create a new announcement and try the code in there.

Be sure to hit save once again.

then if that dose not work i may be able to create a code with a head and body tag in it, but it would still have to be placed in your announcement when using phpbb3.

If you change to phpbb2 or punnbb version, then you can just place the code you have above in your over all footer template in the head part of the code.

Add norton-safeweb-site-verification to "name" attribute field and uz1fr55st89xwqwmuwg5v4d2dnpf149l4-67-oeyo4jij91ty3cqz2iywcgm48jxb4k7v-hpuqu578mcowoepqic3rz0ijb6-kwqsr41fn361wixugtdy86ks5ut801t to "content" attribute field when you create a new meta tag.

I guess you have to have Norton to know if it worked or not?

Of course, there is a simple way around this problem. Ditch the Norton. It does seem to be far too complicated & is making you jump through far too many hoops. We got rid of ours years ago.

Microsoft Security Essentials is so much more user-friendly, secure & what is even better, it is completely free & has regular updates. There are other free security systems out there with less hassles than Norton.

I had the same problem with mcafee when the servers went down on this site then they chaned the names and format of th url
that then made my site flag up as unsafe.

i then spoke to typlo and he told the tech guys and with in a week it was fixed...

He told me that the tech guys spoke to mcafee and they added it in the safe list.

now my sites are alll back to safe again.

maybe a admin can ask The Godfather to take a look at this thread..

it would not be good if all fourms from this site was showing up as unsafe with anyone with norton on there pc / laptop. Shocked

i know typlo is not with us now but there is some one from the french forum thats comes here now so they can deal with it or atleast tell you how to put the tag in your site
