Clearing list of threads
Hi all,
Please can someone tell me how you can clear threads from the forum so that they do not show (old ones) but so they do not affect the amount of postings you have input into the forum? I know you can lock threads, but I would like some to not show. If there is a way of backing these up this will help hugely.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Clearing list of threads
As far as Iam aware you cannot delete old threads without affecting the posts. I had to create a Archive Thread to move threads that reached 1,000 posts.
Re: Clearing list of threads
If I'm understanding you right, you're wanting to make it so that some of the Threads on your Forum don't show to anybody but you don't want it to affect their Post count from that Thread, correct?

Re: Clearing list of threads
just toss them in the "garbage" forum, that won't effect the count.

Re: Clearing list of threads
cougar30, here's a couple suggestions to help you with this.
Method #1: First go to AP>General>Categories and forums> Then create a Forum with any name you would like, I usually use Trash Can for this.
After that go to AP>Users & Groups>Search users> then find yourself and click your name.
After that go to the Permissions Tab and find the new Forum you just created, once you see the Forum you just create mark the box "Is Moderator" for that Forum.
And now go back to General>Categories and forums>Find the Forum you created again, and select the Permissions icon now scroll down and you should see your Forum name, uncheck the "View and read" boxes for all the other groups and check it for your name then move the Topics into that Forum, your Administrators might still be able to see the Forum but your members wont be able to.
Method #2 Go to the AP>General>Categories and forums>now find the Forum that has the Topics in it and delete the whole Forum, this should remove the Post's from the Forum but shouldn't affect the users Post Count.
I would recommend to try Method #1 since #2 you have to delete a whole Forum, which then deletes every Topic in it and not ones that you choose.
Hope this helped, just let me know if you don't get this and need more help with it.

Thanks for your help. I know exactly what you mean. I think there needs to be an easier solution to backup posts etc for all Admins/Moderators to retrieve should they need.
Re: Clearing list of threads
Yeah that would be nice, like the Recycle Bin on a computer? Haha xD.
