Solved Founder password change

Post by lee2131 July 6th 2011, 9:10 pm

Hi guys. I have been given the founder password by the person who created the forum for my site, and have the admin password too. I have managed to change the admin password on the forum, but I'm led to believe I need to change the founder password too, and cant seem to find a was to do it. I did find 1 page, but when i entered the details, the boxes just cleared, and I was not directed to another page. Can anyone help please??

login with the founder account,
go to profile - information, fill all the form, include the old password and the new password, make sure the new password and password confirmation are filled with the same password, click send.. , if it doesnt work, can you give the screenshot ?

I can only sign into the forum itself as the admin, so all i seem to be able to do is change the admin passwords. Is the founder log in somewhere separate? This is all confusing to me lol!!! :/

When you are logging in with the founder's password, are you also using the founder's username? To see all the features and option, you have to be logged in as the founder of the forum.

I've been told the founder username is an email address, and given a password, but don't know where to log on to use it. Do i do it in my forum itself, or on the forumotion site? In which case I need the link as I can't find it. Sorry if I'm appearing a little dense, but I'm new to all this!

I am talking about your forum. Maybe I am not understanding what you are trying to ask. Are you saying that the person who created the forum is giving you his/her account (founder's account) that was set up automatically when the forum was created?

They set the forum up for me, but we has a slight altercation, and he deleted my forum for my website. He has since apparently reset the original forum back up, and has given me a username (email address) and password, and told me to change it, but I cant find where to change it at. He also gave me ADMIN and password for the forum itself, which i think i have successfully changed, just not the founder one. Does this make any sense?

Log onto the forum, scroll down the homepage to the bottom, press the Administration Panel link.

Administration Panel>>Users and Groups>>Users>>Search Users

Press the username for your account, a page should load. Change the information, do not forget to press the Save button.

Ok I have done that, but does that not just change the admin account, or is the admin account the same as the founder account? I'm just curious as to why I've been given a different password for the founder tools?

Founder Tools uses the original password and email address that were used to create the forum.

It could be that the founder changed them on the forum after creating the forum.

If the next page does not load, then the information is not correct. You can not change them until you go to the next page. Changing them on the forum does not change them on the Utilities Tool.

lee, i thought that you are given an Administrator account, not the founder account, so if you want to change the founder account password, you need to log in with the founder username and password on your forum, than go to profile, and fill the form for the old password, new password, and the confirmation password, i try this at my forum to change my forum`s founder password and it works..

Hi. I have tried it this morning and all is good. I think maybe he had only just changed it, and it needed to be updated in time on the server. Thank you very much for your patience and help, really appreciate it :wouhou:
