Homepage Messages Won't Create Line Spaces

Hello! I am a complete newb when it comes to the AP sometimes. So if someone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it. Been trying to figure this out by myself with coding, but it's just not working.

Anyway I'm trying to create a forum homepage announcement using, the homepage message located under Homepage Generalities.

I can change the color, size, font, bold it, align it to the left, right, center, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to space it. It just doesn't want to create line spaces, like this.

I can fix it by using a line break as I figured out, but that looks ugly. I don't want a line in between every space, that's just off putting. Thanks for any information provided to a newb!

What are you using for a line break? <br /> or <hr />? <br /> Will put the text on another line, 2 lots will give you your space.

Truth be told, I was referencing the posting information for coding. I didn't even think or know about that one. Thanks, worked like a charm!
