How i delete the smilies Code from the posts ?

Hi,
i deleted a lot of Smilies, but The Smilies Code still in the posts, how i delete it too ?? (Very important)
i see a lot of Smilies Codes in the posts like ( :sm020: , :sm92:,...... ) this is not good.

Are you trying to get rid of all the smilies overall or some?

When creating a post, you can always choose "Disabled Smilies" in the options.

No, i mean i deleted the smilies but the code still in the posts

Admin panel > Display > Avatars > Smilies

From there, you can delete and change the codes.

You will have to manually edit each post that have codes. There is no option to delete them from the post.

what? edit each post???? it is about 8000 posts or more

Sorry. If members used the smilies before you deleted them, then there will be just codes in the posts. There is no option to remove the codes from all the posts at one time.

There may be another way round this. You could replace all the smilies with an empty gif. That way you will lose the codes as well

Editing the post is the only way. If it was me I would just leave them there anyways.

This is impossible, it is about 10000 or 15000 posts.

so why did you delete them?

the reason all the codes are showing up is because it's text.

I mean i never heard of this on this scale, deleting all the emotions, some fun forum you have eah??? lol

I dont have nothing to suggest accept what was suggested above, you will have to edit each post or just leave them..

or try to go to your forums utilities and back up your forum to a couple days before you killed all the smiles then add empty gif.

I just find it odd that you would wait until you have thousands of post to no longer allow smiles???

I am thinking that should do the trick?

If you're not out of space, you should be able to upload new, blank smileys that have those smiley codes.

But if that's not possible, you could also use javascript to remove the codes from the post content. It's not a great solution because it will slow down the display of the page, but it IS a solution...

See i think what he did was deleted all the smile images along with the smile codes,
So yes it would remove the images from post, but the code part is basically just text in the post now, thats why that would still remain.. (the only thing i can figure?)
So yeah he can re-up blank smiles, but then he is going to have to remember all the codes for the smiles, or just make a list of what they are from the post, and add them as he goes along when he see's remaining smile text,

Thats why i suggested to try to back it up before he killed the smiles, this way the codes will still be in there and all he has to do is add blank images. either way sounds like a big mess to me or if he gets all the smiles back by doing a backup/restore. then just leave them this time and be done with it,

Or to the restore and remove the smiles option from the template and add something different in there.???????

That sounds interesting, not sure if like the slow down the page loading part..lol,
but will still be interested in checking out the script if you have one.
