Unusual problem after image upload
I moderate the Mammillaria Forum - http://mammillaria.forumotion.net/
One of my users has reported an odd problem. He was posting a message and added an image to his message. It appeared to have gone OK, and he is an experienced user, so I don't suspect finger trouble. He uses servimg as the image server.
When the image is viewed on the Forum, the image has vanished, and a rather obscene message has replaced the original message and the image.
I have tried the following:
1. Deleted that post altogether, suspecting some kind of virus.
2. Uploaded an image to the thread myself, with no problems.
3. Obtained the image that the user wanted to post and scanned it with Microsoft Security Essentials, and also with MalwareBytes. No problem was found by either scanner.
4. Posted a message ot the thread, and included the image I scanned, uploaded to Servimg. All was well.
I have asked the user to register a second ID to see if using this creates the same problem. If so, then it would seem that the problem is on his PC, and if not, then his userid has somehow been compromised.
Has anyone seen this kind of thing before, and if so found a way of solving it?
Many thanks,
Chris Davies

What did the message say that replaced the original message and image?
Was it an error message or something correctly different?

Hmm, are you sure you trust the user? It doesn't sound like an error.
Re: Unusual problem after image upload
The original message and the attached photo was replaced by an obscene message, which had nothing to do with my Forum.
The user is one who has been an active member of the forum, and one who I do trust not to have "created" this problem for mischevous reasons.
He informs me that he has been able to post an image with no problems this morning, and I have cheked this and it is fine.
So hopefully whatever it was, it has gone away. I know there wasn't anything wrong with the image he tried to post, as he sent it to me, I virus checked it using two different and respected checkers, and then posted it myself with no issues.
All very strange, but as I can not give any more details, maybe we put it down to one of those gremlins - for now!

Re: Unusual problem after image upload
When you mean a message do you mean text or the image itself? I have seen on different sites where the images change because of the hosting sites are have issues.
