Sub-accounts?
Sub-Accounts Mod
What is a sub-account?
Basically, it makes it easier for members to switch accounts without having to log in or out through a drop down menu (which will appear at the top of the forum/portal page). This is a newly popular feature in other free forums and many others are beginning to implement it (such as jcink). This feature is especially popular amongst roleplaying forums as many forum hosts have a large roleplaying community. Also it is beneficial for roleplaying forums where players have more than one character on several accounts (it will surely be welcomed by those who do have multiple accounts), so having the feature will attract many roleplayers searching for a forum host. This is also good to consider because many other free forum hosts are beginning to implement sub-accounts.
How you use a sub-account?
How to use a sub-account is that one account is the "Parent" account and any additional accounts is the "child" account linked to the "parent".
The sub-account could be created through 'edit profile' by selecting "managing sub-accounts". In there, there will be a "create/link" and by pressing that, it will allow you to register the "child account" (which is the additional account(s) which go underneath the parent account).
Lastly...
I hope I explained everything in a coherent manner. And I would like to say that I believe that sub-accounts would be a great addition to forumotion and will attract many roleplayers to the community (as there are already a lot of great features on here already that would attract them, but sub-accounts would be highly beneficial).
(I searched to see if there was anything on this and didn't find anything, so hopefully I'm right. Forgive me, if I'm not.

Bump!
Thank you, idinafig!
I also would like to add that this would also help with the issue about not being able to use the same email address for two accounts.

Recently heard that Jcink now has Sub accounts in mod, and it's quite well-recieved from what I've heard.

Re: Sub-Accounts Mod
Agreed. Many roleplay sites on Jcink are already working with it. Seeing as how Forummotion has the better Roleplay Module, I see no reason why FM shouldn't add this in.Marzipan wrote:Bump!

Re: Sub-Accounts Mod
If forumotion had this it would make it so much easier for everyone on our site, some people have up to like 10 accounts!
So for roleplay sites in general (there seem to be a lot on forumotion), it would be really good.

Re: Sub-Accounts Mod
I voted no,as it's not needed. As members can just create another account, depending on if the forum admin allows members to have more than one account.

I understand the concept, however, do each 'child' account count towards the overall number of people who registered? If it does, forget it.

Yes, indeed, this is a great suggestion.
As admin of a few forums, being able to switch between priviledges and exploiting code mistakes, this would be really helpful.
